Ive decided to repaint my old space marine army as adark angels, but one of the squads is basically a vanguard veteran squad. Is there any way I could field these on the tabletop in a Dark Angels army seens as there are no Vanguard Veterans in the Dark Angels codex?

Its not the end of the world if not, ill just repaint them anyway and not use them on the tabletop or lop off their power weapons and give them chainsaws to make them assult marines.

Rules wise, no, its not in your codex so you don't have it, but it reallly depends on your opponent. Some will let you, some might not. i'd say turn them into assault marines just so you can always use them.

If it isn't in the codex then you can't field it simple as. it's annoying since a lot of armies don't get the upgrades to thing like storm shields for example but they do get some themed stuff which is always nice i think

Paint them DA, use SM Codex.

It's the one time it's "Acceptable" to chop and change codexes. DA for 'wing and SM for anything else.
