I saw last night that the Magic cards for Beastmen are available for advance order. They cost £3.00 and will be out on the 24th July. There's 7 cards in the deck from the Beastmen army book. Yes you read that right, seven cards. Like the magic decks to come they will be a limited issue. I hope one all the hubub dies down GW will put PDFs of the cards on their site as there's something nostalgic about printing out my own cards and cutting them out myself.

I had the idea that the new magic cards, just released for preorder, are not limited.

Sorry my mistake the magic cards from the rule book aren't limited but the Beastmen ones are. From yesterday's 'What's new Today' on the UK site:

"Available to advance order today is the new Beastmen Lore of the Wild Spell Deck. It's the first army-specific deck of magic cards and like the ones to come, it is a limited edition item. Judging by the rate all of the other limited Warhammer stuff has sold over the last week, I'd order the spell deck sooner rather than later in case you miss out."

Correct. As they roll out each armies magic cards -- daemons next -- they will be limited edition, the ones from the main rulebook are not.

Bah! why make em limited if the others aren't? I was expecting the main deck to have every lore even the army specific ones.

Really hope skaven get cards!

And looking at those cards im thinking that army book magic isnt going to be erratad to have 2 casting values like in the 8th edition brb.

Skaven magic just took a big big hit.

Agreed, making them limited edition actually reduces my inclination to purchase them. Why should I rush to order a set of cards for an army I don't know if I want to use, in a game system I don't know if I want to keep playing? Especially if my cynicism gland is telling me to expect the army-specific spell cards as a free .pdf file sometime in the future... .

I only won't get them because they are not as practical as the basic deck. The main deck ($12 CDN) has all the magic cards which I can use in all of my armies. Comared to the Beastmen one which can only be used for one army.

Also the Beastmen spells arn't jamed somewhere in the middle of a 500 pg book.

can they really call 7 cards a deck? I wish they would put together the army specific ones into a stack and sell those. 7 cards for whopping 3 quid? I bet they don't even fit into card protector sleeves.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

I'm wondering what they're going to do with non-human armies that have never used human magic before (like skaven). Are they going to give skaven players the choice of one or more lores and the limited edition skaven magic? If not, what happens if you want an army and the cards aren't available due to not being in printed or not having been printed yet? It just seems silly to limit the availability of a crucial resource to a limited time production run.

The cards are a useful bonus. Not a necessity.

All the army books have the magic lore in them for the respective army.

The ones that go with the main rulebook certainly won't fit into protectors as they are to large.

They are charging £6 for the deck from the rulebook which has 56 cards, how can they justify £3 for 7 cards? Oh yes, its GW...

Um, IMO most of the army lores pale in comparison to the advantages of boosting the spells from the 8 lores themselves.

After reading the 8th edition book im more worried about how lore of ruin and plague will keep up with the new BRB lores. Those things are just wow.

Im guessing skaven magic will get erratad, or we will have access to like, death and shadow also.

Oh, they'll prolly come out with card sleeves that have a logo on the back that will just fit those cards and nothing else. And then a few weeks after that send out C&D orders to all other card-sleeve manufacturers because people are cutting down the Lore cards and putting them into regular sleeves.

I was perplexed about the size of the deck as well. The cost compared to the rulebook deck is probably a reflection of the minimum cost for the box and then the cost of the cards themselves is less expensive. I also want to see the Skaven deck, I expect it will come out around the time of the big box set. I would have also liked to have seen decks for magic items as the race specific ones can be a little odd and it would be handy to be able to show an opponent the card.
