This is my BA 2.5k army list I made and I wanted something kinda mechanized so. Plus I'm quite new so I'm not sure what I should be quite aiming for but this seemed good to me.

HQ
Astorath the Grim 220

Elite
Furioso DN w/extra armour 140

Librarian Furioso 175

Servo Harness Techmarine 75

Troops

Tactical Squad w/ ML,meltas, PF 200

Tactical Squad w PC, meltas, PF 205

Transports

Land Raider & Crusader 500

Fast Attack

Baal Pred 115

Heavy Support

Pred w/ HB 100

Vindicator w/ Siege Shield 155

Dev w/ MM, 2 HB, ML 140

It's not quite to 2.5k, around 2026 to be exact, and I was wondering if anyone could offer some tips for me to better round this out. I thought about adding my DC w/ Lemartes & JP which would add another 395. I'm not concerned about being entirely competitive either, just something I could probably win about half the time with.

Astorath should have death company as he gives them extra benefits, just downside of death co is they cannot score so worth taking them?

Not sure on the techmarine TBH as rhinos aren't hard to pop and dreadnoughts can be taken out with lascannons at range or melta up close.

You don't have enough troops with the remaining points you should throw in another troop unit at least, make it two if you can.

Armour should be taken in pairs to help with target saturation and unit redundancy. So two baal preds would be fine and drop the normal pred. Drop the vindicator you could do, however taking two which can move up with the rhinos does add more threats which move up, however the baals can fill this role too.

I'd probably keep the devs in fact and double the unit so drop the vindicator and make sure they all have missile launchers. A squad mixed with missile launcher for both anti vehicle and anti troop and then taking other weapons for single roles isn't good because your weapons aren't effective against the same targets.

Hope that helps.

Not much close combat beside Astorath & the 2 dreads. This list needs some major reworking. If you want to go mech then put the tacticals in rhinos, drop the dreads and find a way to work DC into hte mix. Astorath doesn't fit well with this style of army. DC with a Recluisarch charging out of the redeemer would hurt.

I see little point in taking astorath with anything less than 2 death companies. He's not that great of a combat character himself really, and adds nothing to a death company that lemartes or a reclusiarch wouldn't add. Go with mephiston or the sanguinor, or a basic chaplain hq. You need a LOT more investment in troops if you want to win halfish of your games.

Alright I tweaked it around a bit taking some of your guy's advice. This list is 2415 points and I feel better with this once. I was wondering, Should I drop DC altogether as it is kinda expensive the way my squad is built, and just go for Sanguinary Guard as my fourth troop choice for 200 points instead? Then I could allocate points that I save from the switch somewhere else. Do my Termies need to have transport or would they be good lumbering around the field?

Just ditch those death co altogether. They're costing a packet and not doing what troops should do; claim objectives.

I dunno, death company are rock solid. They smash into anything they hit like a truck and they're a beast to take down, provided you avoid things like leman russes and vindicators shooting at them.

Try them out. If you find you have trouble keeping them alive, then drop them for two more troops squads of other types. I personally love them.

That's very true spellbound but they just cost too much and don't claim objectives which is a deal breaker for me.
