Hey all,

I currently have 3 armies - orks are my primary, nids my second, and necrons my shelved third. All of them have a fair number of models in them. What I'd like to do is go for an army that is low on model count. I've been looking for a while now at terminator or some type of TEQ force.

I currently only know of three:

Dark Angels Deathwing
Space Wolf "Loganwing" Force
Ork DeffWing (2 bosses in MA with 2 mobs of MANs)

Are there any I've missed? I remember things like the Lysanderwing and Lustwing/Plaguewing, etc for Chaos, but I don't think those are still legal, are they? Are there any low model count armies that can actually be effective on the battlefield? I'd welcome any advice and/or stories of how people's low model count forces have done.

Yeah the chaos ones need daemons to work, so now don't.

You've got them all.

Chaos can go oblit heavy with 2 Demon princes and a smattering of troops in rhinos for low model count.

No other TEQ's I can think of though.

Anyone have any experiences playing with Deathwing or Loganwing armies they'd care to share? Are they at all competitive, or is taking them handing your opponent an auto-win?

I'm a little worried about going Deathwing, as the DA codex is kind bleh compared to others. Also, I'd be incline to do an orky deffwing, but the mega nobs are quite pricy and not my favorite models.

As a Deathwing player, I say that no, you're not automatically signing yourself up to lose versus most opponents. I'll admit, I came in second to last at a local tourney back in April, but I blame my tactical errors and exhaustion (it was right after finals week), not my army. When you get the hang of it, Deathwing can be a fine-edged blade that will tear your enemy's army asunder. A mix of ranged and CC oriented Terminator squads (I prefer 2 CC squads to 1 ranged squad) can be surprisingly effective, especially when you add a Deathwing Banner and a Chaplain to a CC squad with mixed TH/SS and TWLC Termies (think 30+ power weapon strikes on the charge, re-rolling hits and wounds).

I'm not sure about Loganwing, and Deffwing sounds hilarious; it's something I must try.

I'm torn between Deathwing and Loganwing. I'll have to read up more on the DA fluff, but from what I've seen of the codex, its painfully out of date. Stormshields working like last edition, etc.

I'm almost tempted to try a dual Logan/Njal list, but I doubt it would be doable in games under 2000 points. I'll have to work out a list or two and post them. Right off, I'm thinking ridiculously small numbers of models from the points of some of these guys...

I don't think this really fits in with the same type of lists as above, but with tyranids you could always spam T6 and 2+ saves...Very low model count too...something like 40 at the most (but that would be a lot of points I think).

Like I said, completely different, but I think a model with a 2+ save, T6, and 6 wounds is at least at the same level as TEQ

Just Lysander with a bunch of Terminators. He can't take them as troops or anything. His Bolter Drill rule is pretty awesome though - I sometimes run him with 10 tactical Terminators with 2 cyclones, and they can really do some damage.

I've run Loganwing before, and I played against a monstrous creature-heavy Tyranid list. I destroyed him.
