Would it be possible for imperial guard veterans to loot off the enemy side, so you see a few veterans armed with necron and eldar weapons?

Id think thats tech heresy. Couldnt definately tell you as i dont have a guard dex. That being said i think theres a book in which they use ork guns.

Necron weapons would probably phase out with the 'crons themselves as they were destroyed unless kept in a stasis field. Otherwise unless you're part of an Inquisitor's retinue, Guard high command would probably consider it tech heresy and have you shot... or turned over to the Mechanicus where even less pleasant things would happen.

Personally I'd be all over guardsmen veterans with splinter rifles or pulse rifles. It'd be awesome. I think maybe in extreme situations then it would be ok if your lasrifle ran dry then pick up a xenos rifle and try to figure it out.

The IG is diverse and all that, certain regiments in certain areas of the galaxy might turn a blind eye to xenos tech use. Well, until the wrong Inquisitor hears about it.

The modelling opportunities would be awesome, but I'd be really wary about allowing the stats to carry across to the IG. I think it could work pretty well as count-as.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

IG with a pulse rifle or shuirken cannon would be awesome, until high command or thr inqusition heard about it. Then you your life gets alot worse...

Eldar weaponry, with the possible exception of Eldar Sniper Rifles, is linked to the wielder's psychic profile. Humans would not be able to fire them.

Ork weaponry works on the basis that the orkz think they will work, and their latent psychic abilities cause them to. Humans would not be able to use them, and depending on the construction of them, might end up harming themselves even.

Necron weaponry is probably built into the Necron's actual systems. Even if they aren't, they're likely to phase out with the Necrons themselves.

Tau weaponry, on the other hand, would be perfectly usable by humans. Although some of the more advanced weaponry might require reprogramming to work properly, the interfaces would still be accessable by humans.

There used to be some really nice Imperium figures with shuriken catapults...

Yes-- back in first edition.

IG wouldn't use anything that a xenos scum would use. Nor would Space Marines.

Orks, however, would use anything.

I would Imagine that Chaos would use anything, as well.

The Cain series and Dark Heresy: Creatures Anathema says differently.

Humans CAN use it... but it's unreliable.

Isn't there also a story about a captured Ork whose gun is mainly just a block of solid wood with a barrel and a trigger? IIRC, he manages to get ahold of it and shoots a servitor with it.

Armageddon Ork Hunters often use looted Ork weapons. Then again, they also "go native" in the Ork-infested jungles and aren't too much better than the Orks they're hunting. Using enemy equipment is generally considered heretical though.

Tau have incorporated some human worlds. You could probably do some nice counts-as or house rules for guardsmen with pulse rifles.

That or you could play as Dornian Heresy Ultramarines and have marines with pulse rifles and predators with rail guns ;-)
