So I've been playing a bit of 8th and using the Master of Black Arts to bulk up my magic dice.. Basically it goes like this.

I roll my 2D6 to get my magic dice, and MoBA states that the wizard generates +2 casting dice, so theoretically, If I rolled double 1s, I would still have 4 dice for magic. DO you think this is how MoBA works in 8th? Or what is another way to run it?

That seems only logical. Is there some reason you're hesitant to consider it the truth? Some inherent and horribly broken rule-monster hiding in the shadows that I can't see?

No, not really, it just seemed to keep the Vamps pretty powerful since I can get 4 extra dice (with two vamps with MoBA) and it doesnt matter that they are level 1s as I can throw a load of dice at a spell and almost guarantee it getting off. Just seemed too good to be true

Ya the +2 is right, but beware of the Hex Scroll (the one that turns you into a frog). It can be very scary when your Vamp Lord turns into a frog.

You're still going to be limited by the 12 PD max thing though, would you not? Or does this somehow circumvent that?

I would imagine. Maybe there's some stupid RaW argument for how the sentence structure of one of the rules leaves it open for debate, but I would imagine.

Meh the 8th edition BRB clearly states, you may not have more then 12 power dice in your power pool at any one time.

you are limited to 12, but the great thing is that it guarantees me a minimum of 6 dice if I take it on two vamps.

Two master of the dark arts also gives you an average of 9 PD, and will let your opponent only have 6 DD at most. Having at least three more dice is good.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

?

With two masters of the black arts the average power dice pool is 11 while the opponent only gets 1-6 dispel dice (3.5). 11 dice with +4, +5 or even +6 to cast is pretty good against 3 dice that get +1 or +2 to dispel in the most common matchups.

The same question could apply to empire warrior priests, which come stock with a DD (arch lectors get 2).

However, this is a very powerful ability now. In friendlies I've played under 8th rules, I've simply allowed each priest to channel one DD, and each arch lector to channel 2. Mainly they all fail, but I got to keep my friends.
