I bought the Battle Missions book yesterday and excited for the possibilities for Kill Squad, anyone have any praises or complaints?

It can definitely be a little one sided, depending on your opponents forces. Some armies (eg: Tyranids, Orks) have special rules that end up causing major trouble come Kill Team time.
Other armies (eg: Eldar) who have a variety of cheap yet powerful unit chocies (eg: Dire Avengers, Fire Dragons) will do extremely well.
Frankly? I like the old rules better, and really do not enjoy the new version of Kill Team all that much.

I like the version in the previous edition rulebook. In fact, I carry two versions of the rulebook every time I go to play just in case someone thinks it sounds interesting. Are they releasing a new version?
Also, I do think the rules felt a little "thrown together" at times, but the entire concept is sort of bending the system to do something it wasn't meant to, so I don't mind.

The version is Battle Missions is pretty straight forwardly off.
0-1 Elites
0-2? Troops
0-1 Fast Attack
200 points, go crazy. Since each model ends up forming its own unit, anything that keys off unit size (e.g. Mob Rule) suddenly becomes useless. Apparently you can also split up a single models shooting against different targets, so things like Dire Avengers get really nasty.
Frankly, at that point? Why not just get the rules for Necromunda? XD

Kill team's alright, but we find you need to house rule a lot of stuff to make it fun.

I really like the quickness of the games. If you just wnat a quick game with a friend. Whip out your 200 points of models eacha nd go through a quick game. Set-up to Pack-up shouldn't be more than 30-45 minutes. You could get a couple of games in easy.

I enjoy it, its a way to go through your codex and play those models you wouldnt normally play. Ive found that Sternguard Veterans are very good for me in Kill Team.
Its a fun way to make 40k into more of a quick skirmish game.

House rules make Kill team a bit more fun.
Its okay on its own but it really is a band aid solution to skirmish in 40k.

I'm not a fan t'be honest. It takes just as long to set up and play as a 500 point game, but is less fun due to constant rules queries and the complete lack of balance at that points level.
Oh, and Steamdragon - if you think that unit-size dependant rules becomes useless, you probably didn't know that my Sisters of Battle gain a 3+ Invulnerable save by rolling OVER unit size...

I find that Kill Team is a lot of fun and forces me to look at the battlefield very differently from a standard game of 40k. It's also great for my son who finds regular games a little too long for his attention span and needs to wrap things up in less than an hour before he gets bored.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

The BM KT rules lead to special models being shot off first (ie, heavy weapons, sergeants) since they can all be singled out. On top of that the assaults are usually boring, highest initiative usually wins since it's 1 vs 1.
I prefer the rules on http://terranforge.blogspot.com/p/project-kill-team.html
