Peekaboes.

In the profile for Chaos Rhinos(oes?) it states that they are equiped with a Twin-Linked Bolter, and then have the option to add a pintle-mounted Twin-linked bolter.

As far as I understand it, 'Pintle-Mounted' would mean that it means one at the top-hatch, then where's the other? (ie what directions can it shoot at?) Could I model a Chaos Rhino with the guy at the hatch with a Twin-Linked Bolter and point at it as the 'normal' twin-linked bolter included in the profile, or do I have to go with WYSIWYG and say it's a pintle-mounted one?

Thankee.

There's just one Twin-Linked bolter on the sprue, though. =P Although it's not uncommon for GW to have options that aren't on the sprue..

Yeah they're both supposed to be on the top hatches.

i believe if you look all of the rhinos chaos or otherwise have the bolter(combi/twl/storm) that comes with the vehicle considered as pintle mounted.

its somewhere in the books.... faqs...

In the book it just says 'Twin-Linked Bolter' and then in options 'May take a pintle-mounted Twin-Linked Bolter', I checked the FAQ but it didn't mention it.

I did notice on a picture of one of 'Eavy Metal's Chaos Rhinos that it has both the bolter up there, and the Havoc Launcher (which is another option). So I guess that it's the one that's pintle-mounted that's the first one, and that one may add another (but I don't know where one would get a second Bolter *shrug*)

Nope. The kit comes with two hatch options, one with a pintle mount, and one without. But you can't fit two hatch rings on the tank without chopping them slightly... the second hole in the top of the tank is for the smaller plug that has the mounting socket for the Havoc launcher on one side.

The loyalist rhino kit has two ways of mounting the storm bolter... you can pintle mount it, or hull mount it on the same peg as is used for the hunter killer missile launcher. The Chaos kit doesn't have this option... If you want a second bolter, you're going to need to do some conversion work.

But if one is to be picky, for Tournament purpouses for example, people would generally agree that the hatch-bolter is the Rhino's included bolter?

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

Yes i have told my opponent this quite often when i take combi meltas on my rhinos. When they destroy a weapons on my rhino i tell them there is two since there the rhino is equipped with a TL bolter. I dont represent the TL bolter and no one i have played against has had an issue so far.

Rhino's with combi-weapons can yield surprising results

True, but I personally dislike combi-weapons due to their one-time use. True, a combi-melta can take out a vehicle worth twenty times the cost of the weapon (or more) if lucky.. But.. I prefer a normal melta on a normal marine, or a normal flamer on a normal marine.

I'd rather 3 shots over 2 any day of the week. Sure marines have better odds on single dice rolls compared to other races... its still a dice roll. If you only need one shot to get through, shoot 3-5 times, just to be sure (because sometimes even that is not enough)

If you pay for a Melta you fire 1-2 times a game (assuming the model does not get killed). How is the same cost for one that does not have the option to fire more than once, but fires about as often as your normal meltas a bad deal?

That depends entierly on your strategy, it's not like a 18th century battle where you line 'em up and just shoot until one side is down. Also depends on your oponents strategy, and on a bit of luck, of course.

I put a combi-melta on the rhino for my Chosen. I outflank them in 4 meltas in the squad.

If the positioning works well it means i can get 3 melta shots on a target with the squad still in the trasnport.

It's always fun seeing someones response when their land raider gets popped by an rhino.
