Ok im trying to figure out what type and set up for a baal pred is the best and for what situation. i know that if you Vs an army with +4 save either one will work just depending on your play style. but when Vs +3 save would you rather take the AC for taking care of armor and the chance of instant kills? or take the FSC and hope you get in range to use it. also are sponsons even worth take on a baal with FSC that you plan to charge?

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!...wait that ain't right...ARRGHHH

I like the Heavy Bolter Sponsons on the FSC. Gives you something to shoot when the templet is out of range.
Either weapon can be useful. You can get into range with the templet by either outflanking, or your scout move before turn one. The way i run my Baals is if I go first deploy and scout, go second outflank.

Also one thing the FSC has over the Assault cannon regardless of who your facing is you can hit more than 4 people, and you auto hit versus having to shot the twin linked AC.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Always take the sponsons. No matter what build you use, when you play a horde army you are going to want the ability to move 0.1 inches, shoot everything, yet not give them auto-hit.

If you go with the Flamestorm, try to use the scout move if the terrain is favorable or if you are going first.

Yes, the Flamestorm can hit more than 4, but trust me, opponents spread out when that thing is near. Having the Azz Cannon twinlinked means you almost always hit with 4. And keep in mind that with Rending the Azz can penetrate armor 12 and the Flamestorm cannot.

Both are good, just depends on your opponent. Flamestorm can put some real fear into MEQ, particularly bikes, but Azz is probably the most flexibile.

I think the DAKKA baal has more flexibility than the fire BAAL, but I have been told that useing the flamestorm cannon sponsens and the AC turret is the best option.

You can't use Flamestorm Cannons as side sponsons on a baal predator. Only as the main cannon itself.

I don't like the heavy flamers as side sponsons at all. I'd probably only ever run heavy bolters only because I can see myself having the opportunity to use them more often than I could if I was using a heavy flamer in it's place.

Unless of course I'm fighting against say, the green tide or a swarm of nids'.

My reaction was to take said die, and hurl it out the window of the 3rd floor of our student union. I then placed a Commissar model next to the rest of my dice pile. They immediately began performing much better.

I have two Baal Predators with assault cannons.
I use them to give fire support.
They are perfect for this task, move 12'' and fire the assault cannon or move 6'' and shoot also the heavy bolters.
Flamers are too short ranged for my purposes.
What flamers can do can also be done by the Assault units.

I like to keep mine cheap and run them with just Assault Cannons. They're solid firepower when outflanking into side/rear armor and I also like to use them as mobile cover sometimes for my jump packers. Their speed helps them take advantage of their Assault Cannons, and if they'e generally going to be moving quickly then they won't be shooting their sponsons much.

Lately I've been considering the Flamestorm Cannon/Sponson Heavy Bolters option but it serves a bit of a different role than I need for my current list. If I change the list up a bit then I might give them a shot.
