first post! new to the forum. been playing black templars, but im looking to change to normal vanilla marines. getting yanked off of objectives by taking fire is really a pain, plus i get more firepower this way.
here we go!
HQ: Master of the forge 120 pts
-conversion beamer
Troop: 5 Scouts 100 pts
-snipers and ML
-camo cloaks
Troop: 10 man Tac squad 185 pts
-plasma cannon
-Plasmagun
Elite: Ironclad Dread 180 pts
-heavy flamer
-drop pod
Fast Attack: Assault squad 260 pts
10 assault marines
-power fist
-3 plasma pistols
Fast Attack: Assault squad 235
10 assault marines
-3 plasma pistols
Heavy: Vindicator 115 pts
Heavy: Vindicator 115 pts
Heavy: Devaststor squad 190 pts
-ML
-ML
-LC
-LC
Could drop a lascannon in the devastator squad to a missile launcher, and drop the tac plasma cannon to a missile launcher for a power fist in the assault marines, but i dont own the other two missile launchers.
what do you think?

Sounds a good list........ I would drop the scouts and master of the forge for a more powerfull leader. And id rather have a Plasma Cannon and a Lascannon than a Missile launcher ( Just my thought.......)
But apart from that i think it will be a very powerfull force.

@ Pomyboy: He only has 2 troop choices, dropping one would make the list illegal.
@ OP: You have too few troops anyways. In any objective mission you opponent is going to hit those troops hard and make it impossible for you to win. I would say to fix this with minimal changes: get rid of Devs and the MotF in favor of a jump pack chaplain and another tactical squad. Drop the pistols from the assault sgts, any chance you take in self-killing a pfist sgt is too much IMO. Then you would have points for the 2nd pfist.
edit: I think that would also leave you with points enough for upgrading the tacticals plasmacannons to lascannons, which is great. old school plasmagun/lascannon squad.

So, a second copy of the tac squad, but both with lascannons. Seems fun. I havent played with a chaplain before. Any certain upgrades he should have? (besides jump pack...)

The chaplain is nice and cheap for 115 with the jump pack. He comes with a power weapon and iron halo (4+ invulnerable). He will give one of your squads some extra hitting power. The only real thing to maybe give him is meltabombs, if you have 5 points left over after the rest of the list is done.

Id like to keep the devastator squad i think. i have two tyranid players out of the 5 other players in my weekly league play. synapse creatures dieing 48" away seems comforting. then vindicators for the little guys.
Also, the blood angels ork and chaos players will have something for me to shoot at, like a looted wagon, defiler, or baal predator.
Devastators seem good on paper, but i've never actually played with them... does it seem like a good idea to keep them around?
Could drop the master and Scouts for a tactical squad. or maybe even an assault marine squad could be dropped. Just an idea.

The problem with devastators is that putting anything other than MLs (such as Lascannons) in the squad is very expensive. Your list really would work best with the changes I suggested originally IMO. However, another option would be to leave as is and simply swap one of the assault squads for another tactical squad.

Try this instead of the Devs: a 2 heavy wep Sternguard squad. A LasCan is cheaper with a 5 man SG unit. Work out the points.
However, when I used to run devs, I'd run an 8 man crew, all MLs. They lasted longer due to size. In general, I'd advise against LasCans; for the points cost and 5e's Cover Saves for Everyone! environment. MLs will do well for any bug you're shooting at, except the Tyrranofex and an armored HT.
Your overall list: If you're really liking all those jumpers, give the BloodAngels a look.

Nobody has played a tyrannofex yet, they usually stick to tervigons so far.
i would run 4 ML's in my devastator squads, but i dont have that many models with ML's...
i have all the jumpers because my 1000 pt league list tried to abuse the preferred enemy vow from templars.
I do like the sternguard though. taking them also frees up another of my heavy slots if i wanted to switch some more stuff around.
