The stormshield is just because I had 20 points left over. The plan is to deploy everything. If the enemy has a lot of high-armour big guns like Leman Russes, then I'll probably Flat out right in front of them with the two stormravens. They'll each be carrying the death company, one with Lemartes and one with Astorath, both with a dreadnought. Even if they get destroyed they can use the Skies of Blood rule to at least have a chance to land their payload, which can then go after the enemy on the next turn. Mephiston and the Assault Squads will be right behind them posing an additional threat, so it's a lot to deal with in a short amount of time.

If the enemy doesn't present a lot of high-armour guns, then I'll probably just spend turn 1 shooting the Stormravens at enemy transports or monstrous creatures, singling out specific threats to mow down. The army has only 12 kps which isn't too bad for 2500, and in objective games I can combat squad the assault squads to grab objectives and hurl the non-scoring death company down the enemy's throat.

I get the idea of what your list is trying to do but again I keep seeing people putting up Mephiston. He is a waste of points. Why not dante or the Sanginor or someone who isn't wasting a psychic power trying to keep up with a jump pack squad.

Other competitive lists will kill him first turn or trap him in a silly combat while the ememies power house focuses else where. Most times He'll even be ignored.

Because neither of those are a 1-model answer to things like a unit of killakans. I'm really not sure what silly combat he could be trapped in. He'll be flying with the assault squads for the most part, ready to handle anything they can't. Likewise, should he come up against 30 poisoned termagaunts, the assault squad will jump in to cause massive damage and get him out of there. If the enemy wants to shoot him with anti-tank weaponry then be my guest - he'll be getting a cover save from his friends the assault squads and if they move close enough to use plasma or melta on him, they're going to regret it.

I like the Sanguinor, model unit and concept. But he's far easier to trap in that protracted combat you mentioned, and there's a lot more things he just can't kill that Mephiston can.

Not yet. I'm trying to decide what I can use besides Valkyries, and how to make vectored engines.

I've seen some awsome conversions and have been tempted to make myself two or three, but I dont really want to have to buy a Valkryie and Landraider kit for each one... I think Im just going to wait for the actual model to be released before I play them in a tournement personally.

I'm not massively keen on mephiston. He's a power house but he's not a IC so cannot hide in a unit and doesn't have instant death either.

Why storm shield on the first assault squad? Waste of points I'd put the points towards a power fist.

Rest is pretty groovy but not a lot for 2,500 points.

Drop the storm shield and use the points for either a power weapon or power fist on your Assault squad sargents. Each squad needs one or the other in it. Turn a Death Company Power Fist into a Power weapon if you need the points.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Love the list and I love that Mephiston is in it. So many people knock him since he has no invuln save and is not an IC. The first time he rips open a Land Raider though with his bare hands makes it all worth it.

Mephiston easily claims 500+ points each time I use him....that's why I continue to. As long as he is traveling near a sqaud that can give him a cover save, he is a pimp daddy!

I had 20 points left over, so no powerfist. Thought about the power weapon, but I kind of like the idea of tossing the odd melta hit on the sergeant to usually negate it. Since these are my main scoring units, I suspect they may draw a lot of fire. Between hugging cover and fnp and the storm shield, hopefully they'll survive longer than the enemy expects - especially considering that in objective missions, the two squads of DEATH and the dread support will be in their face.

Looks good overall but you need some power fists in the assault squads.

Mephiston is great .... until you start coming across psychic defense, then he becomes a waste of points, sanguinor is a better choice imho. The guys still a total combat monster (took out 25 boyz + nob in 3 combat phases by himself last game) took a single wound, no priest nearby giving him fnp either.

Even worse would be against Njal, or just rune priests straight 4+ cancel. Mephiston would never get a power off ...

Besides that a cool list.
