Just curious as to how people like to equip the command squads. I am thinking 4X Plasma guns and a company banner.

4x Storm Shields. That combined with FNP would make them extremely difficult to take down, although they'd be so laughably expensive that you'd lose anyway :(

I have plans on giving them bikes, storm shields and meltas or flamers. T5 and FNP with a 3++ would be expensive but nasty.

I have two that I use
The First is:
-Company Champion
-Medic
-Standard with Plasma Gun
-2x Plasma Guns
The Second is:
-Medic
-4x Plasma Guns
I use them because they both look cool and they can hold an objective real well. [Yes I know they are not Scoring Units, I mean hold as in “You Men Go Hold That Position”]
I vary rarely actually put them with that Character that got me them, I usually put them with my Librarian, and if do that I give all of them I can a Power Weapon.

I was thinking of putting a relic blade and storm shield captain with them in a razorback. they can MC hunt or just take out MEQ's.

4x Plasma guns. Lightning Claws optional. all in a rhino
anything else is WAAAAAAYYYY too expensive to be effective.
if you give them SS and gear them for CC then you are better off with assault terminators.

Tank Hunters... Multi Meltas and Thunder Hammers!
On Bikes...
Apothecary gives them Feel no Pain, great!
Bikes make then Toughness 5, excellent!
A free fast attack option as they don't take any force allocating! Sweet!
Hoping to test them with my Imperial Fists, eventually!
This is a high priced experiment, but it sounds like bloody good anti-tank fun!

FNP is best against low Str weapons as most weapons that ignore your armour will ignore FNP as well(AP3 is tough to find)
SS are pt sinks. giving one to a naked squad member is almost twice as expensive as taking an assault terminator. AND the assault termie has 2+ armour, the same stats, and a Thunderhammer to boot. you have to pay twice as much to get the same equipment(and you can't get the 2+ armour ever)
Command squads are Special weapon spam platforms protected by FNP. 4 plasma guns will easily take out the Swarmlord(done it many times) Fexs, Deamon princes, Normal terminators, anything with FNP, Wraithlords, the Avatar.
if you take melta guns. 1 power fist and melta bombs for every one is all you need for CC anti-tank.
Flamers will benifit from a LC or 2.
Don't spend too much on them or they will become impractical. no more then 250 pts total(with transport)

I have run them with SS and power weapons and its a great distraction and terror unit. My oppenents think they are stronger than they actually are. So if half my oppenents army fires at them instead of the rest of my army then more gets through to do him over.

my choice is a anti tank command squad, i havent got a chance to build these guys yet, but im really excited to test it out
medic
vet w/ plasma gun
vet w/ power sword
vet w/ power fist
vet w/ thunder hammer
the three vets with the major close combat weaponry have plasma pistols and all of the vets have melta bombs, my plan is to run them in a razorback w/ storm bolter, dozer blade, and extra armor. they are acompanied by their captain who has a thunder hammer storm shield and artificer armor, the only problem is that the razorback isnt a assault vehicle

My god that squad is like 350 points. 5 bodies and an 11/11/10 vehicle. I would love seeing that across the field, cause I know I spent my points way more efficiently. CC weapons are wasted on command squads - you end up with a squad that is more costly but less effective than terminators.
As far as anti-tank goes, what is wrong with just 4x meltagun? I bet that would have a way better chance at destroying any vehicle.

Combat Command Squads can be effective, but primarily when fielded on bikes.

and only when part of a completely bike army.
alone they will get stomped.
Command squads should either have 4 special weapons and a rhino to go and find some juicy shooting target OR they are given some CC weapons(All fairly similer and suited for a specific task) and bikes and put in a all bike army so they can support it.

A Command with 4 Plasma Guns and a Razorback make a great combo for defending a Objective.

I'm looking to field a DA command squad with a Company Champion, Standard Bearer, Apothecary, and two power sword/bolt pistol-armed veterans, being trucked around in a heavy bolter Razorback. It's gonna be a bit expensive, but it should be a good objective grabber!

I support the 4x Plasma Gun/Razorback tactic. It worked wonders for me, especially when I needed to defend something
