I plan on making a battlewagon out of either a manticore/deathstrike or a leman russ converted heavily to look extra orky.

My question is do you think that I would be allowed to play with the without counting them as a looted wagon but as a battlewagon.

If it makes a difference I play at a dedicated GW store.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

You should be fine. Don't "model to advantage" and make it excessively large or small, but otherwise, if you're using mostly GW parts, then you should be golden. Lots of scratch built BWs out there.

ok then size wise I know the leman russ should be fine but do you know how the Manticore compares to the battlewagon (just a rough estimate)

It is going to take some work, imperial tanks are much smaller than the GW battlewagon and battlewagons in general.

A Chimera/salamaber chassis can transport 10-12, so it would need some work to convince me that it is carrying 20 and AV14.

A Leman Russ has no transport capacity so it would need some work to run it as a killwagon with 12 transport capacity.

There are some good techniques to extend the imperial tank by giving it some front wheels which makes it larger and actually have a transport capacity. I think your best bet is to at least match the size of the current BW footprint which means enlarging the tank a bit.

I agree with GWAR, these are Orks people, they hang on vehicles more then ride in them, the crazy gits.

I just scratch built one from a toy semi I bought, and left the whole back half un armored to look like the place where all da boyz are waiting for some krumpin. As long as you stay as close as possible to the BW size and make it look like a BW and not a looted tank, then your fine

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

OP, I would suggest joining two chimera chassis together long-ways (maybe a manticore and a chimera). That's approx the same size and shape as a battlewagon.

That would be a little too long, 2" to 3" too long. I used a looted rhino, got some battle wagon bits off ebay, and added one set of large wheels up front. I added plasticard diamond plate and a cab and it is within 1/8" of the footprint of the battle wagon kit.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

You know what would make an awesome battlewagon? Two Chimeras side by side, with an ork on top using them as roller skates.

Good god, those are in the battle fortress range of size my friend. I mean, you CAN use the as counts as BW, but just remember that taking those into battle, you side armor is going to be nearly impossible to not get shot at, so your BW will be much easier to destroy. Id shorten those by alot, like back to the landraider lol.

Cool conversions though

Thier Orks, they can use anything as a battlewaggon.
Ive always wanted to see a Monolith turned into looted wagon or battlewagon, put a Grot right on top where the crystal goes, with a big ol' sailboat sized stearing wheel. Some exhust pipes and some side sponsen orks hanging out the side wiht some big shootas.
