What would you enjoy painting the most? You said Orks are the easiest to get, I say go for them. Orks can loot anything, and are a lot of fun to play as.

No, they are easy to get as in my brother has roughly a metric ton of orks already. I love orks. but I am not going to buy more orks.

Pour over pictures of the models, and make a shortlist of the armies with models you would want to paint. Then go through those codices and read over their rules. Purchase the codex and models that you like both the models for and rules.

We can't tell you which those are going to be.

Sangfroid Marines 5000 pts
Wych Cult 2000
Tau 2000

Well I was hoping experienced players could tell me of different play styles.

From what I have seen, Daemons are very hit and miss. Sometimes they fail to come into the game till the very end. And can mishap often if you roll poorly (As ALL daemons must deep strike in) but under the right circumstances they REALLY kick some ass.

Tau are long range beasts, but if something manages to get into CC it's gonna hurt. A lot.

Eldar are speed demons. Great for objective based games but I haven't seen enough of them to really say much on kill point based games. Fast Fast Fast. But I always seem to destroy them in close combat. I had a group a gaunts eat a group of Harlequins. GAUNTS.

Marines is pretty much choose your poison. That's something you'd have to look into by chapter and see what you like. I play Blood Angels and they are VERY assault based (Which I love)

They immediately began performing much better.

I Have a mixed nid army. I love eldar, as I got a chance to play them every once in a while, but I hate all the metal.

Yeah, they do have a lot of metal on them and from what I've seen there aren't a lot of options when customizing models (Except the tanks)

Hmm. I'm not too sure how I can help you there. I know Necrons are expensive units, warriors anyway, Blood Angels are expensive to field. Not sure what else.

Logan Grimnar

I had 10 I think Wolf Guard Termis configured differently

A rune priest and a Dread.

Wasn't very effective against hordes and I had a terrible streak of rolling 1's but it's a fun list.

Cost about $130 depending on what you do and if you get AoBR or not.
