Hey, first time using a 2k list, it's a tourney tomorrow, not expecting to win, so I just threw stuff together to add to my 1500 list. What glaring weaknesses do you think it has? Can't change much, I'm using all I've got. What should I watch out for? I do have an Inquisitor, but I don't like using him too much.

Here it is:

HQ:
Company Command Squad
-Creed
-3x Plasma Gun
-Medic
-Astropath
-Chimera (Hull Heavy Flamer)
315 pts

Troops:
Veterans
-3x Meltaguns
-Chimera (Hull Heavy Flamer)
170 pts

Veterans
-3x Plasma Guns
-Carapace Armor
-Bastonne

-3x Meltaguns

Infantry Platoon:

Pretty much, heavy support stays back and blows the feth out of everything, vets go forward and take objectives, blob squad sits at the home objective. Ratlings come in and pin stuff, grab a midfield objective.

If I may ask, why are you taking creed?

I'm also really not a big fan of the 4x HS, as 2 of them will need to be squadded...

only 20 guys are going for a non-home objective in a 2000 point game? That isn't very many, given that they're guardsmen. I predict given that a vast majority of this army is static that you're going to have a real tough time on objectives missions.

This list is actually having a problem with focus in general. By this I mean that you have a bunch of little groups of guys doing a bunch of things differently. If any one of those groups is offensive to your opponent, they only need to kill a couple of things and they've neutralizes the part of your strategy that is going to give him the biggest headache.

The partial footslogger, partial armored company, partial mechanized, partial artillery with a light dusting of air cav is way too unfocused. The fact that you needed 6 punctuation marks to describe what your strategy is accentuates this fact. Unfocus leads to overcomplicated strategies. Complexity is bad. Just look at the battle of new orleans.

Probably work

As strange as it feels, I find myself agreeing completely with everything Ailaros says. The only thing I would say is that if you're doing static gunline, then Creed works well, though plasmaguns don't make sense in that squad. Either make another ccs your plasma squad or drop creed and have them charge in. Also, flamers and lascannons don't work well together in a PCS. Finally, a single basilisk never won wars on it's own. Either lose it and run everything else as single HS, or add another basilisk.

Yeah, this list is kinda the suck. I'm running with what I have, I don't really have the capacity to go over 1750 with my army, but there's a tournament, and I'm bored.

I'd like to keep the heavy support the same, and drop Creed, if I do so, what should I do in his place?

The chimeltavet squad should only come to 155, unless you forgot to list some upgrades. The PCS should be 60 points. I would give Bastonnes chimera to the other meltavet squad - Bastonne's boys have carapace to protect them, longer range weapons, and that way you get the most out of his orders (can't take orders in a chim). Then you can leave the vend empty as a dedicated gunship, that can score late-game if need be. You could also give them the lascannon from the PCS, and give the PCS the chim (or vend), maxing out their flamers if you can find two more. Makes bastonne's squad more gunline, and takes advantage of the BS4, while keeping the juicy AP2 together.

If you dropped Creed, maybe demolitions doctrine for the meltavet squads? That won't be enough, but it's a start.

well, if you're trying to inflate your points without adding models, might I suggest giving everything meltabombs? They make your whole army tank shock proof and reduce the amount of worrying your need to do with regards to anything with an AV.

That and if you can find some model that's good enough counts-as, I'd recommend an officer of the fleet. A great way to blow some points.

That or throw around some extra armor on the chimeras. Horribly expensive (actually a plus in this case), while actually helping your scant few chimeras achieve their primary objective of bringing scoring units to objectives.

Ayup, I second all of that. All would be better than Creed for this army, I think.

I'd say the major weakness is the 2 upgraded LRBTs in a squadron. If you can scrape up the models for points, and your sponsons aren't glued on, try and field those tanks as 2 naked LRBTs, or 2 with just lascannons.

Rest of the list is alright, personally I'd swap plasma vets with bastonne for just another squad of melta vets. Between the plasma CCS and the HS section, you've got enough for dealing with heavy infantry.
