Okay, so I play Blood angels, and my vindicator seems to draw an unhealthy amount of fire. I am thinking of adding a naked Techmarine for 50pts to the list to try and keep the vindicator alive. Only problem is that it seems there is no CURRENT model (I dont want second edition stuff) for a tech marine with a servo arm. Any suggestions on how I should come across the correct tech marine model?

Just snip off the extra bits

Your SURE there is no other model. Because snipping medal sounds a lot harder than sniping plastic.

not that I know of. And snipping pewter is easy, you can actually do it with a pair of house sciscors (i cant spell) just dulls them really fast.

You don't have to snip any metal off you don't want.

ALL of those servo arms have to be glued on separately.
Right/left/top and bottom.

So you get a choice of the BIG servo arm/claw, the small one, the flamer arm and twin-linked plasma pistol/welder thingy.

Thanks Chromedog. Now I feel MUCH better about buying it now (havnt bought it yet). So each arm is seperate, but dose it look weird, like stubs sticking out, when they arnt glued on?

How about just buy an engine seer from imperial guard which is fairly cheap and you get a backpack and arm that looks correct.
With very little work you can use the Mechanicus power axe as well.
Just pick a model that seems good to you and get him to hold a auspex and add a few guitar string "cables" dangling here and there and you are good to go.
Maybe pick a head from with the augmented eye to be certain it looks correct.

Hope this helps.

You can build a quick and easy plastic Techmarine by mixing the Shoulderpad and chest from the SM vehicle accessory sprue. For the backpack, take the robotic arm from the Devastator missile launcher and glue it to a standard backpack with one of the vent balls chopped off.

Good advice on the other points but that missile augment arm is so wimpy looking. He would be laughed at by the other techs: "My arm is bigger than yours..."

It could hold a welding torch maybe.

You know you can just go to eBay, search "Techmarine" and you'll get plenty of old Techmarine models, right? Until the last few years, there wasn't even an option for full servo-harnesses. Most of the ones you'll find on eBay are from the 90s, and will just have one servo arm. There's no need to buy a really expensive metal figure and desecrate it with a pair of cutters.

Here is a crazy idea, but dose anyone think it would be too hard to convert an Iron Warriors Warsmith into a tech marine. I mean, its got one arm, and the heraldry for the Iron Warriors is similar to my armies winged skull with a blood drop. Would it look too chaos like?

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

there is a Techmarine with 1 servo arm. there are actually 2.

Techmarine with power ax and Techmarine with Bolt pistol.

a Warsmith would work too.

@Grey Templar: Aye, but I think that those are the "second edition stuff" that he's talking about.

@Talizvar: Perhaps, but personally I'm not a fan of the overly large Techmarine arms. What if he has to work on something more intricate? Plus, find another way to as easily make a full plastic Techmarine and I'll be all ears.

You'd have to put in a lot of work, but it would look awesome at the end. I agree with this idea.

I'm using the standing Chronus as my TFC gunner. He has the armour styling and the small servo arm already (and it's not like I upgrade my tanks with him) and I got the bits for free (entire blister pack).

The Techmarine with servo harness: The arms have the stubs on them, the backpack merely has 4 small holes for mounting them. Little bits of GS will fix it if you really care about it.

Alright, I am doing it. I am going to convert the Warsmith. Once purchased, I will start a tiny blog in the P&M blog area (Thats three blogs created, two abandoned due to lack of interest). Thanks for the idea DAKKA!

The backpack techmarine also comes with the option of making it into a barebones techmarine. Instead of gluing the backpack on you can just glue on one of the servo arms.
