When a unit of Ymargl Genestealers comes into play from the 'dormant' special rule, can the unit run?

I was playing my first game using them the other day and was challenged on this rule. The codex states that they can move and assault as normal, but there is no mention of running or shooting. My opponent claimed that running was in the shooting phase and because shoot is not mentioned, I cannot run.

Rather than argue for too long I let him have his interpretation and just blew up his tank instead of his combat squad.

What is Dakka's opinion on this? Can they run or not?

See, I've been told the opposite. I've been told they can run but cannot move because coming out of the terrain counts as moving.

To me, I think they get to come out of cover, move, run and assault if possible.

My reaction was to take said die, and hurl it out the window of the 3rd floor of our student union. I then placed a Commissar model next to the rest of my dice pile. They immediately began performing much better.

Nowhere in the rules for "Dormant" does it specificly say that you may not run so you default to the BRB rules on when you can or cannot run. He can't claim "permissive ruleset" because permission has already been given in the BRB.

EDIT: ...and as for the not being able to move, ask your opponent to show you where it says that popping up from the terrain in the dormant rule or even coming in from normal reserves prevents you from moving or counts as your move.

Doesn't coming out from reserves count as your movement phase? For example, in Dawn of War:
All units that were not deployed, and were not declared to be in reserve during deployment, must enter the game in the movement phase of their first player turn by moving in from their own table edge, just like units moving in from reserve.

You know why that is? Because the DoW rules say so.

If the rule doesn't say you can not run, why couldn't you?

I have to agree with above poster's. Unless it specifically calls out that they can not perform a run action then you can.

It does happen in the movement phase, however you are still granted your normal move. All it dictates is where you have to start that move from. Dormancy does the same thing, it tells you where you have to place the units to start, then tells you they may move and assault normally (i.e. as you would in a normal game turn that they were on the table).
