It's competitive. I might drop one basilisk and 2 GLs for a squadron of 2 hydras.

Interesting, I'd drop a plasma and put a medi kit in the CCS. I find it keeps them alive longer against those gets hot! rolls and you don't kill half your men yourself.

Not keen on that special weap squad either. Though is cheaper than vets.

The bassies in the same squad?

Whoops, no they are not. Also, I have run it with the Medi-Pack a million times and honestly, I am not sure its worthwhile. Being able to shoot more shots, even with a casualty, I find a better option. That is just my growing preference, though, after so many games.

The SWS is meant to be a scoring unit that sits in the Vendetta and, in a pinch, can hop down and toast stuff. The cheap price-tag is why its there. Same with the PCS, really. Lets me last turn speed out onto objectives with the Vendettas.

As for the Hydras, I will try that out, actually. Sounds like a possibly good inclusion.

I guess swings and roundabouts eh. More shots and die quicker or less shots and live longer. Probably balances out through-out the game.

How many specials in a squad? I cannot remember.

Special weapons squads are 6 man squads, 3 of which have to take a special/demo charge.

Right so 6 Guardsmen with 5+ save aren't going to last 5 minutes if they bail out a valkyrie.

lol yeah they are a poor mans vet squad (3 speacials) but they are cheap and if you don't care about them they can be good throw away unit. Think about it 3 demo charges dropped from a valk could be fun.

They are a cheap squad that can make a Vendetta scoring. That in itself is worth the small price. Also, being able to toss a Demo Charge is nice, if only to let them speedbump a nasty unit.

It is a good idea. I'm just saying they're not going to last long and need to get out the valkyrie to shoot.

Surely anything you drop out of a valk ain't going to last long?

Lol that's a fair point. That's why I like chimeras for shooting out the hatch for so you don't need to get out. Valkyries are good for alpha strike with melta vets but can also get a squad inside and turbo boost to a objective in the final turns.
