Hi

I bought a manticore/deathstrike box week ago.

I love manticore looks. I cant wait build them.
But I want to have death strike too.

So,anyone did try to make swappable manticore/deathstrike?
I want to know your idea.

Slight bump to help the guy out..

I haven't seen any successful attempts, my understanding is the way the missiles are assembled makes doing so very awkward.

Well, you can go to a bitz site and buy a second missile and launcher set. That way you can swap out the payload without having to spend another $50.

I think this will be really difficult without a second frame. The critical parts are used in both models, but in different ways. For example, half of each Manticore missile is glued to the body of the Deathstrike to make the boosters. The launch rail for the Deathstrike is turned 90 degrees for the Manticore. I looked at doing this and concluded that a) it would take a lot of magnets, and b) it wouldn't look very good.

From my brief look at a pic of it, you would assemble the main rocket, which has spaces at the 12 o'clock, 3, 6 and 9 mark points, if you were looking at it from top down.

All you would need to do is magnetise the 4 halves of the rockets so they could clip together for the 4 rocket option and also for seperating to put on the big rocket.

2 halves of the rocket would have a small metal bit, and the other 2 halves would have magnets. The big rocket would have 2 metal bits and 2 with magnets. This cunningly gets around the polarity issue you would have if the 2 halves of small rocket you try to stick together were pushing away from each other, AND it uses less magnets.

Phew. Explaining without pictures is hard.

As for the launch rail well... I dunno.

I cannot think past the rail launcher being convertible to either configuration too.

I LIKE making all kinds of interchangeable parts and this does not look good.

Thinking magnets for rails for Manticore config attached to the long sensor on top, make it a bit stronger but whole assembly to pop off leaving the bare rail.

Will have to make Deathstrike rail from scratch probably from various plastic forms bought from hobby shop.

Would want to modify what remains of the missile to look like the sketch in the IG codex, that looks more correct.

Was holding back on assembly too, trying to get a brainwave on how to proceed. The prior kit I just glued it all in place for the Manticore, was not overly concerned about it.

My second one I want to have the option of either/or so will give this thread serious thought.

Thanks

Like Ifurita I looked at the sprues and played around but couldn't come up with a good looking way of doing this. I'd definitely be interested if someone came up with something clever but the chances of me actually fielding a deathstrike are pretty slim.
