I played cryx and my opponent (who I was showing the game) played mercs. After some explaining of the rules and cards we rolled of to decide who would start. I won the roll. I opted to place first and start, as that would be easier when explaining the turn-sequence.
Terrain was pretty sparse, with a hill on the lefthand edge of my deploymentzone, some forest in the right just past my deploymentzone. his had the same mirrored on his side. There was also a small forest in the middle. (so it would not be an easy shooting gallery. I want to be able to win...

)
I deployed my thralls in the middle and a ripper on each side. Slayer and deneghra stood behind them, while the pistolwraith would go upfield on my right. He deployed the jacks on the left. Herne and Jonne deployed on the right. Kell did a
AD in the forest on his side, taking up perfect firing position. Eiryss took position as close to the center-forest as possible.
My turn 1 I gave focus to every jack. Everything ran up. Thralls spread out a little, deathripper on the right runs to the left to stand just behind the thralls. The left ripper ran up full 14" to try and arc spells next round (not in range of kell right now...)Deneghra took up position on the hill. She camped focus. The slayer ran up behind the thralls. unfortunately I did not run him up the full 12", which would bite me in the *** later on... I ended my turn and let him start.
I ran through a couple of options for him and explained the pro's and con's. He opted to keep 6 focus for magnus. He intends to cast Iron agression on the mangler, and snipe on Kell, leaving him with 1 focus. He starts of his turn by running Herne and Jonne towards the left, as they will not have targets on the right. He then moves up eirryss to be within the middle forest. She takes a shot at the slayer with a deathbolt and knocks out it's first column. Then the talon, mangler and renegade move up. (talon first, a little behind and left of the mangler. renegade behind that.) Then magnus activates and moves up following his jacks. He then casts snipe on Kell and Iron agression on the mangler. Kell activates and shoots at the arcnode opting for doing normal damage instead of 1 point. He throws 7 for the first shot (3 damage column 4) and 9 for the second (5 damage column 5). I lost my freaking arcnode... (kinda saw it coming, as I opted this as an option to him

)
My turn I give 1 focus to the nodeless ripper. denny keeps the rest (I should have given a focus to the second ripper, but I forgot...) As I am going easy on him I start with a charge on Kell with the ripper. He is in a bit of forest, but the charge gets him nonetheless (Kell is an inch inside forest and I was 6"out. ). I do an attack expecting to miss, but I hit and kill Kell. Great!! Then I charge the mechanithralls at Eiryss, thinking I will never hit her. I do opt for single strikes. First and second thrall mis both attacks. third misses first attack, but hits with the second attack (I needed 11 to hit!!). I then roll again and roll a 4, doing 3 damage... ah well, nice try. The fourth thrall does his first attack, again hitting (again on double 6). he then throws 3 dice for damage and destroys Eiryss. the rest of the thralls are a bit spread out behind the 4 that struck Eiryss. The slayer moves up 6". Then my other ripper moves up a few inch, because I was too far off for arcing and did not want to get shot and get it's node knocked out. Deneghra moves up a bit but has no range for casting (should have given a focus away...) pistolwraith takes up position in the forest Eiryss was kicked out.
His turn start again with contemplating ideas of what to do with the focus. Agression is upkept free. he then decides he wants to cast obliteration and boost to hit on it. The remaining focus goes onto the mangler. he starts with herne & Jonne. They move up a bit and shoot at a mechthrall. it is just outside of range and he scatter. he gets 1 in the blast. he then scatter 2 extra blasts and get 2 thralls extra. all 3 die in an explosion of ichor. Then he moves up the renegade and uses it's rocket to take out the 4 thralls that hit eiryss. he hits and all 4 thralls die. He then uses magnus to cast obliteration boosting to hit and takes out another thrall, but nothing else. 3 thralls left... magnus moves back a little to get out of range for assasination (although I doubted he actually noticed what he did

) Then the mangler activates and moves into combat with the nodeless ripper keeping 1,5"distance. He hits with the wrecker and does 13 damage, taking it down to 1 Cortexbox. He then buys an extra attack. It also hits and the ripper is wrecked.
Almost nothing left I begin to sweat a bit. But in all the confusion I see a opening. I keep all focus and start by moving the node up to 5 inch from the mangler (a bit too close, but I missed that...) I then put the slayer behind the ripper, ready for the countercharge. The 3 thralls take up position on the edge of the center frest, because they where to far out for a charge. Denegrha acrtivates and moves up a bit. she then arc crippling grasp at the mangler (hitting). she then arcs parasite at the mangler, also hitting. Then the pistolwraith activates and forfeits movement to shoot at the talon. It is hit twice and ghets some minor damage. Then it gets chilled. Time for him to get to know my powers, muhahah...
He starts by keeping 5 focus. the renegade gets 1 focus. He starts with the renegade charging the wraith in the forest. He hits and throws 3 with
3d6. I am still alive baby

Then jonne moves a bit and takes aim at the mechthralls. he misses and gets 1 on the scatter. The rest of the shots miss. the Talon forfeits move and stays put. Then magnus moves up a bit and casts a boosted arcantric bolt at the ripper. He misses and tries again with a unboosted shot. it also misses. He curses as he has just blown through all focus and did nothing. The Mangler then gets to move and he engages the ripper. he hits it with his attack and does 13 damage. leaving me with a headless node, but eveything else intact. (damage from column 5). he then gives me the turn.
This turn I decide to go all or nothing. Deneghra keeps 3 focus, upkeep crippling grasp and gives the rest to the slayer. She then starts first and moves up. She feats, catching everything of Magnus in the Ctr-area. I then cast Ghostwalk on the ripper. The ripper then activates and moves out of the way of the mangler, ignoring the freestrike. The slayer charges in and starts pounding on the mangler. first hit does 13 damage to a severely debuffed mangler. Second hit gets boosted damage and does 10 or so damage. the tusks do a few points. then an extra attack and the nmangler is wrecked. Step 1 complete. The wraith moves back a little (ignoring freestrike as he regains incorporeal) and then shoots 2 times at the renegade, knocking out 2 columns, but no systems. The Renegade is then chilled. The only thing left to move are the Mechthralls, but what to do with them... I boldly opt to charge at magnus and the Talon. The Talon gets hit by a combostrike and takes 2 columns worth of damage. Then the hit on magnus. I opt for a combostrike. I need a 7 to hit. (remember deneghra feated and cought him in the bubble). I get ... a 7!!! I then roll damage (I am doing dice damage (again because of the feat) and roll 3 dice) Magnus takes 12 damage going down to 5 left. (rolling 17 or more was a bit much to ask

). I then end turn.
His turn He keeps all focus on Magnus (only 4 this turn). Jonne shoots at the slayer. he gets a direct hit and does 7 damage taking out column 4 and a bit of 5. no systems out. The blasts do nothing. He then decides he should get magnus out of the combat and moves away. Magnus gets hit with the freestrike and I roll enough damage to kill him, handing me the victory....
I think it was a fun battle, but thinking about the lists now has led me to see I was down 3 points on my opponent. Ah well. good thing it was me with the fewer points and not him

I must also point out that handicapping yourself against the opponent in a demogame keeps it exciting for you and your opponent, because you know what the opponent can do and have an advantage on him. with a handicap that advantage is minimized.
Hopefully you enyoyed the report...
