The
AoBR models are nice and useful and are an excellent starting point, preconfigured or not as all of the models can be used in any decent Ork list. As far as equipping the models, outside of tournaments, unless you are gaming with complete jerks, most folks aill be willing to give you some leeway. Kit out the Warboss for now how you want him, even if you may later have to add a squig to his base or something. As far as Ork Armor on figures go, heavy armor can be represented by as little or as much as you deem appropriate so long as you let your opponent know before the game which units are in armor and which are not.
As a new player, use the models you have but play around with kitting them out to find something you want to use. You can always update your models later.
Based on the above and mostly on what you had in your list already I would go for a 1750 point list with a few changes. My suggested list using your models would be
Warboss @ 125 pts 'Eavy Armour; Attack Squig; Bosspole; Cybork Body; Power Klaw; Twin Linked Shoota
This is a fairly standard kit, although chances are he will never shoot as running is usually his best option as you want him in HtH, I gave him the Twin-linked Shoota as that is clearly whathe has in his big paw.
Big Mek @ 95 pts Shokk Attack Gun
Usually best to keep him near but seperate from Lootas as you do not need him dragging them across the field, so no need for boss pole. Most folks prefer the KFF on their Big Meks but the SAG is a fun, orky weapon.
15 Lootas @ 225 pts
Usually best to keep these guys in units of 15 to maximize their potential as you need a lot of shots downrange in order to be effective. If you ever double up on Elites dwon the road this is probably the unit to do so with.
1 Nobz Mob @ 535 pts; Cybork Bodies made up of the following:
Painboy - 'Eavy Armour
1 Nob - 'Eavy Armour; Waaagh! Banner; Slugga; Power Klaw
1 Nob- 'Eavy Armour; Slugga; Power Klaw
1 Nob- 'Eavy Armour; Bosspole;; Choppa; Slugga
6 Nobz 'Eavy Armour; Choppa; Slugga
All in Battlewagon with Armour Plates; Deff Rolla; Grot Rigger; Red Paint Job; Big Shoota x1
This unit is not set-up to be the uber-cheese, lets get 10 different models in the Nob Mob type of set-up you sometimes see, but will still be plenty effective as it is. These guys will probably be giving your Warboss a ride in their Battlewagon but once you dorp them off in your opponents army then go to town with the Deff Rolla.
29 Boyz @ 240 pts w/ Choppa & Slugga & Big Shoota x3; with Nob w/Eavy Armour; Bosspole; Slugga; Power Klaw;
Fairly standard set-up, although as the only footsloggers you have you may not get them across the board and if staying at your home base they should then be Shoota Boyz not Slugga Boyz which does not work well with the AoBR models although again a word with your oppnenet should help in that matter and may give you an appreciation of how Shootas work as opposed to Sluggas. The Big Shootas are more than likely a waste in the Slugga unit as you want these guys running across the board if you are going to play aggressively. Generally if I am taking one large (30 Ork) foot mobs I am taking at least three to maximize their effectiveness.
3 Deffkoptas @ 135 pts w/ Twin Linked Rokkit Launcha x3
Again standard set-up, may want to model on a buzzsaw of some type onto at least one of these just to give them that extra punch in HtH. While the Rokkits are okay, even with twin-linked Orks will struggle to do much damage with these in most games unless you get lucky. These are far superior to the buggies in this role and I would personally take two Deffkopta units or make a single 5 kopta unit before I took buggies.
3 Warbuggies @ 105 pts - 2 Warbuggys w/Twin Linked Rokkit Launchas & 1 Wartrakk w/ Twin Linked Big Shoota
Please see my comments above under Deffkoptas. I think the Warbuggies are easily the weakest fast attack choice for Orks and their are better ways to spend points.
9 Warbikers @ 290 pts w/ Biker Nob Bosspole; Power Klaw
A solid choice although if I am taking bikers they are usually of the Nob variety or I take a Nob Biker Mob along with a unit or two of theregular warbikers.
Total Roster Cost: 1750
Hopefully this helps, although with Orks I tend to just take whatever models look best to me and can provide the most fun moments while still being effective.
