For the back story for this Army you might want to see http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/302593.page#1704354 , this is also the army I guess these Orks will face the most at home. Though the local GW place is pretty friendly and social-able so no doubt they'll both see use there at some point.

Like the BA army this is born out of the AOBR starter kit and Ork Battleforce.

Eternal Plague

Welcome to DakkaDakka!

AOBR is a good way to introduce people to the game.

That being said, the only really good things it provides for ork players are deffkoptas, and a multitude of boyz and nobs that need a bit of kustomizing werk.

Let's look at the list from top to bottom.

HQ- Warboss- list the gear he comes with, as it helps understand how you get to 100 points as he is 60 base and 40 points of upgrades could be anything, though if it is the AOBR warboss, it is a PK, bosspole, and cybork body he should be carrying about.

His loadout is fine, but if you can find a squig model, make it the attack squig for him for a +1 to his attacks.

Put him in the BW with the Nobs (and the BW can be a dedicated transport for Nobs, meaning it does not take up a Heavy weapon slot, AND the warboss can make 1 nob unit a troop option).

Big Mek with SAG- Give it a bosspole and add it to the Loota squad.

Elite-
Nobs- ask around the tactics forum about wound allocation, as Nobs represent a unit in which each model can be a unique character with its own different gear set. I suggest giving the nobs big choppas, powerklaws, a bosspole, a Waagh! banner, and a painboy. If needed, throw on them cybork bodies as well. Give them some combi-rokkits and ammo runts.

Lootas- no rokkits. Don't even know if that is allowed unless you turn some Lootas into Big Meks, but they only really get crappy gets hot weapons. I would suggest splitting the unit into 2 five man outfits, and put the SAG Big Mek within distance of each unit. Place them in cover and have them shoot down transports from a distance.

Troops-

Give each ork boy squad an upgraded nob with bosspole and powerklaw.

A dedicated trukk is only good for model counts under 13, as a trukk can only hold 12. Remove it.

Fast Attack- Remove the warbikers. Split the Deffkopta unit into one man fast attack units, and give them buzzsaws. They tank hunt 4 u.

Warbuggies should be twin-linked rokkit platforms without any upgrades. Scorchas and trakks are not really that effective.

Heavy Slot- Add another 2 Battlewagons. Remove the Ard Case, Killkannon, Kannon, and 3 Big Shoota options and make all of them have Red Pant Jobs, Deffrollas, 1 Big Shoota, and Armor Plates. Play around with the points to see what of those 4 upgrades you can keep.

Place the ork boyz in the two extra battlewagons.

With these changes to your list, you make it that much more effective and versatile.

Warboss should have cybork body at least. At the moment he's got a 6+ armour save which isn't good.

No cybork bodies on the nobz, they hvae 6+ also. Seems you've got the Painboy you can give them cybork bodies for 5+ a piece.

The troops I guess the AOBR ones are sluggas? If so you do really need shootas and yuo don't need the big shootas. Also the first unit needs a nob with boss pole and power klaw.

Split your dethkopters into seperate units

F.A units aren't too bad but I wouldn't take a mix. Probably double up on warbuggies but they're fragile in squads!

You don't need 4 big shootas because you can only move and fire 1, only bonus is they save weapon destroyed results but being open toppped something like melta is more than likely gonna wreck it.

The only problem is the AOBR stuff comes preconfigured and without any bits to change them so I am kind of stuck with what GW decided to give them at this point. I have updated the list above taking into consideration some comments, I really want to keep the FA as it is as well we're bike nuts around here and it would go against our religion in life to remove them :-) besides they look like fun.

Yes that is a problem with AOBR stuff along with the static poses :(

If you want to keep the bikes, fine, but you need multiples of them for target saturation and redundancy. Oh, not sure but if the nob hasn't got a power klaw and bosspole give him one

The AoBR models are nice and useful and are an excellent starting point, preconfigured or not as all of the models can be used in any decent Ork list. As far as equipping the models, outside of tournaments, unless you are gaming with complete jerks, most folks aill be willing to give you some leeway. Kit out the Warboss for now how you want him, even if you may later have to add a squig to his base or something. As far as Ork Armor on figures go, heavy armor can be represented by as little or as much as you deem appropriate so long as you let your opponent know before the game which units are in armor and which are not.

As a new player, use the models you have but play around with kitting them out to find something you want to use. You can always update your models later.

Based on the above and mostly on what you had in your list already I would go for a 1750 point list with a few changes. My suggested list using your models would be

Warboss @ 125 pts 'Eavy Armour; Attack Squig; Bosspole; Cybork Body; Power Klaw; Twin Linked Shoota This is a fairly standard kit, although chances are he will never shoot as running is usually his best option as you want him in HtH, I gave him the Twin-linked Shoota as that is clearly whathe has in his big paw.

Big Mek @ 95 pts Shokk Attack Gun Usually best to keep him near but seperate from Lootas as you do not need him dragging them across the field, so no need for boss pole. Most folks prefer the KFF on their Big Meks but the SAG is a fun, orky weapon.

15 Lootas @ 225 pts Usually best to keep these guys in units of 15 to maximize their potential as you need a lot of shots downrange in order to be effective. If you ever double up on Elites dwon the road this is probably the unit to do so with.

1 Nobz Mob @ 535 pts; Cybork Bodies made up of the following:
Painboy - 'Eavy Armour
1 Nob - 'Eavy Armour; Waaagh! Banner; Slugga; Power Klaw
1 Nob- 'Eavy Armour; Slugga; Power Klaw
1 Nob- 'Eavy Armour; Bosspole;; Choppa; Slugga
6 Nobz 'Eavy Armour; Choppa; Slugga
All in Battlewagon with Armour Plates; Deff Rolla; Grot Rigger; Red Paint Job; Big Shoota x1 This unit is not set-up to be the uber-cheese, lets get 10 different models in the Nob Mob type of set-up you sometimes see, but will still be plenty effective as it is. These guys will probably be giving your Warboss a ride in their Battlewagon but once you dorp them off in your opponents army then go to town with the Deff Rolla.

29 Boyz @ 240 pts w/ Choppa & Slugga & Big Shoota x3; with Nob w/Eavy Armour; Bosspole; Slugga; Power Klaw; Fairly standard set-up, although as the only footsloggers you have you may not get them across the board and if staying at your home base they should then be Shoota Boyz not Slugga Boyz which does not work well with the AoBR models although again a word with your oppnenet should help in that matter and may give you an appreciation of how Shootas work as opposed to Sluggas. The Big Shootas are more than likely a waste in the Slugga unit as you want these guys running across the board if you are going to play aggressively. Generally if I am taking one large (30 Ork) foot mobs I am taking at least three to maximize their effectiveness.

3 Deffkoptas @ 135 pts w/ Twin Linked Rokkit Launcha x3 Again standard set-up, may want to model on a buzzsaw of some type onto at least one of these just to give them that extra punch in HtH. While the Rokkits are okay, even with twin-linked Orks will struggle to do much damage with these in most games unless you get lucky. These are far superior to the buggies in this role and I would personally take two Deffkopta units or make a single 5 kopta unit before I took buggies.

3 Warbuggies @ 105 pts - 2 Warbuggys w/Twin Linked Rokkit Launchas & 1 Wartrakk w/ Twin Linked Big Shoota Please see my comments above under Deffkoptas. I think the Warbuggies are easily the weakest fast attack choice for Orks and their are better ways to spend points.

9 Warbikers @ 290 pts w/ Biker Nob Bosspole; Power Klaw A solid choice although if I am taking bikers they are usually of the Nob variety or I take a Nob Biker Mob along with a unit or two of theregular warbikers.

Total Roster Cost: 1750

Hopefully this helps, although with Orks I tend to just take whatever models look best to me and can provide the most fun moments while still being effective.
