So I got my brothers kid in to the game for Christmas and he decided to start an Eldar army and this is his first paint job.

How old is said brother? It's not a bad job, has he painted models before (non-miniature gaming related)?

What good is a battlefield without an Architect behind it all?

Ah, so you're bent out of shape because someone older than you who has never done it before, did it better than you could?

Welcome to life. I'm kinda glad my little brother and I live in different states (he actually is a jerk).

Your brother has some skills there.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

pretty damn good first effort!

haha i do get your anger though, it sucks when you spend so much time perfecting (or trying to perfect) stuff and someone comes along with no experience and just gets it straight away

@MDizzle: Got plenty of sarcasm.
I'm an Aussie, it's what we do. You can take my sarcasm when you can pry it from my cold dry wit.

Just sounded to me like "I introduced my brother to this and WAAAAAAAA! he's better than me.".

Nice to see it isn't.

Now when I say "I hate my brother" I mean it. I really can't stand the alcoholic thieving little mongrel.

It's a great start!

My first mini was from the original Heroquest set, painted with oils into an unrecognizable mess. I don't know where it is but i suspect that the paint is still not dry....

When sarcasm is used in text format, its good to have a smiley at the end.

Yes, nice mini. Very simple, clean lines. Looks like he sprayed most of it? Works for me!

That is clean work. An army done thus would be excellent. Learn to tape the canopies and paint them though, a clear canopy like that really detracts from an otherwise decent model.

http://www.swannysmodels.com/Canopies.html

The canopies can also be painted on the reverse side too, to show through a nice color, like blue, and make them solid, this removes the need to paint the pilots, if desired.

Stay at it!

Other than a good thumping (now that he's older and slower than you ), there's only one thing to do...get better than him!

My first model was hot pink............. how did he do this? Is he blessed by a Chaos God or did he exchange his soul for painting skills? Or is he just talented?

That is a great first mini. Is he just REALLY patient at getting things right, or did he have any experience prior 40k? I drew loads before I began painting, and that helped a lot with brush control at fine levels. (I draw...very finely detailed...at very small sizes)
