Hey all!

1500 pt tournament is coming up at my local gaming shop this weekend and I really don't know what I should do to fill up 300ish points. I have some cash saved up for 40k but I don't really know what to buy. What is a strong but fun unit/tank/etc that would be a good addition?

HQ
Avatar- 155
Farseer w/ runes of witnessing, doom, guide- 110

TROOPS
Dire Avengers x10 w/ exarch, bladestorm, assault 4 shuricat upgrade- 152
Dire Avengers x10 w/ exarch, bladestorm, assault 4 shuricat upgrade- 152

ELITES
Howling Banshees x9 w/ exarch, war shout, executioner- 171
Fire Dragons x6 w/ exarch, firepike, tank hunters- 131

FAST
Warp Spiders x 5 w/ exarch, surprise assault, spinners x2- 159

TRANSPORT
Wave Serpent w/ spirit stones, (weapon varies depending on opponents)- 125-145

HEAVY
Fire Prism w/ holofield, spirit stones- 160

=~1335 pts.

I do still have a box of unbuilt Guardians lying around, and I have 5 Rangers that I can use too. I was told that having a Guardian squad to soak up damage but hold an objective (if the mission calls for it) is a smart move, but I've never been a fan of them. I'd love to go with something more exciting (Scorpions, Wraithlord/guard) but I know I need more troops.
Another good idea I heard was to get another Wave Serpent, which I agree with.

What do you guys think?

Thank youuuu!

You need more than one wave serpent.
drop the frism and the banshees and put in 3 serpents

1500pt O'Vesa Star W: 27 D: 2 L: 1
The challenge: in a 1500pt game I will play 900pt + D6x100 pts, if I roll a 6 I reroll and -100 to that second number (down to 1000pt minimum)
W:6 D:0 L:1

I think the strengths of the eldar army are its amazing psychic powers its awesome transports and its aspect warriors. I would load up on those. Although Im not an eldar player these are the three things about that army that consistently give me problems when playing against them.

fortuned avatars are really tough to get rid of but a 2nd farseer dooming this and guiding that is really good too and he has mobility that the avatar doesnt. Ive never liked that avatars have to walk in an army that can be so fast. alot of eldar players tell me they think eldrad is a good buy for his points, but cant speak from personal experience.

well looking at your list i can already tell your not gonna do very well. having only 2 tanks will really hurt you as they will be the first to go. also with your wave serpent, you have to use the same upgrades and armaments for every game you will have at your tourny. that goes for everything else also. you are not normally permitted to change your list in any way. as for your prism, its good the way it is but you will need at least one more. also your units are too squishy, you will need more serpents (idealy would be nice to have everything in a serpent)...unless the tourny will have alot of cover. also you can leave a troop choice in a serpent and camp on an objective or 2 if your lucky for objective games.

would be a good idea to give spirit stones to your farseer if your gonna use 2 powers and drop guide and get fortune, and use fortune on your avatar for greater survivability. or you can drop your avatar to either get another serpent or to get a second prism.

i would drop the spiders (for a serpent) or at least surprise assault since 5th ed allows jump infantry to deep strike anyway. as for the banshees, i would drop war shout. it sounds nice, but its too easy to pass a morale test. and the dragons, you really dont need the fire pike as you should be within 6 inches for the melta rule with everyone else in the squad.

I know that the Farseers are really good for Eldar but I just don't feel like they're very fun to play (for me anyway). But then again I just really like playing beatstick units... hence the Avatar lol. I mean I know the most important thing is to have fun with the game but with that comes a better chance to win right?

I guess that's where my dilemma is... conflict of having a "good army" and playing what I think is fun to play.

ya thats gonna be a problem. a farseer is what makes eldar competitive. the eldar army is the king of re-rolls due to the farseer. other than that the army just gets bland on tactics and gets boring really fast. and they have one of the best psyker def with row. but you can still have a good army without one, its just that you will have to fight for space in the elite slots. plus you can always go with autarchs or yriel for your other hq

well a fortuned avatar *is* a collosal beat stick... no doubt about that. he can go through a potentially unlimited number of badguys, lol.
