The agriworld Doagd was never known for its piety, ever since it was reclaimed by the Imperium in the 38th Millennium the God-Emperor was just another diety in the Doagdians religion. This was not uncommon to worlds reclaimed by the Imperium and to solidify Imperial rule, the Ministorium established several missions on the planet. The Doagdians welcomed the the missionaries and to some Doagdians the Emperor became their only diety, however this was a very small minority. The arrival of the missionaries, rather curiously, increased the Doagdians polytheistic rituals, that shocked some of the missionaries. Though the Doagdians were not violent in their rituals, the Ministorium deemed the rituals to be cult like and called in a chapter of Adeptus Sororitas, the Order of the Black Rose.
The Roses were brutal in suppressing the "cult activity", in one night killing 15,000 men, women, and children deemed heretics. Though a generally peaceful people, the Doagdians waged a guerilla war against the Roses. Though initially effective, the Roses were vicious in their reprisals. Of the populace of 30,000,000, roughly 5,000,000 were killed in reprisals. To add insult to injury the ministorium launched an artificial star a few hundred light years away from Doagd. The star was used to make the seasons irregular and the effect was more devastating then the reprisals. The crops the Doagdians depended on failed and the population was reduced to around 10,000,000. The Doagd resistance movement collapsed due to the unrelenting pressure from the Ministorium.
A Hrud migration landed on Doagd nearly destroyed the planet, but combined opertations between the Roses and Doagdian PDF destroyed the Hrud threat. For their valor the Doagdians were forgiven for their past "sins" and were allowed to form an Imperial Guard regiment. The 1st Doagdian Freikorps were to join the Donn Worlds Crusade under Warmaster Derrek von Falken. The Founding celebration lasted for a week before the crusade fleet arrived in Doagds Orbit. As the regiment was taken into orbit, thousands of Doagdians watched puzzled as the missionaries and the Roses were also taken into orbit. An Istaviaan Inquisitor named Roekrinn Morvaux discovered several cults of Doagdians practicing their polytheistic religion and demmed it as a widespread Chaos cult. Morvaux did the unthinkable, he ordered the fleets flagship to fire planet killer missles at Doagd.
The Doagdian Guardsmen were on their troopship when they watched their world die. The Freikorps' officers were arrested and told they were now a penal unit. The rest of the Freikorps fought through naval security officers after the death of their world and stormed the ships bridge. The Doagdian forced the ship to make a warp jump despite being pursued by several destroyers. The ship exited the warp in the Chaos held end of the Donn Worlds. The Destroyers broke of their pursuit and the Freikorps was not seen again for about a decade.
The fighting for Vorkii, a minor forge world in the Donn worlds, was a brutal war of attrition. Several million men on both sides had died in the fifteen year war for the planet. An Imperial offensive was making major progress in reclaiming the world, gaining two kilometers of ground a day. The offensive was blunted by a traitor regiment wearing the brown and dark orange uniform worn by the Freikorps. In the ensuing counteroffensive the traitor regiment tore a whole in the overextended Imperial line then that the rest of the Chaos forces stormed through to force the Imperial forces into a rout. Vorkii was in Chaos hands in two months.
The Freikorps is known among the Chaos forces as "The Enlightened". The Gods of Chaos have found a place in the Doagdians religion, who by definition are Chaos Undivided. They are Chaos' primary shock troops in the Donn Worlds and their numbers have been swelled with hand picked veterans from other Chaos forces in the region. Equipped with the weapons and fielding the armored vehicles from Vorkii The Enlightened have delivered several defeats on the Imperial forces in the Donn Worlds and have turned the tide in Chaos' favor. To help stim the tide several Guard regiments and the Order of the Black Rose have been dispatched to the Donn Worlds.
This is fluff behind my Traitor Guard regiment I'm in the process of making and also the campaign back ground that me and a few friends will play. Tell me what you think!

Commissar Gideon Harken had seen hell holes, but Kann IV was near the top of the list. It had once been a paradise world for the Monarchs of the Donn Worlds yet only once. It was turned into a desolate wasteland due to the war of attrition being fought for it. Harken had counted the number of trees still standing on his trip to the front, he reached three. It was a far cry from the world once known for its forests. Gideon squated down in the Salamander and read over his briefing slate again.
The Halefax Colonials were the Commissar's new regiment. They were from a preindustrial world and used single-shot autoguns. They normally were used to put down belligerent tribes on feral worlds, but due to an administrative error they found their way on Kann in the face of hardened veterans of Chaos. It had not been pretty at all. Instead of being used as a security unit due to losses they were sent straight to the front. The Colonials suffered 55% casualties on their first day. Harken muttered a prayer to the Emperor, he was going to need all the help he could get.
The Salamander shook as an artillery shell exploded about twenty meters away. Harken put down the briefing slate and sighed, it was bound to be a long day. The Salamander lurched to a sudden stop and Harken grabbed his kit and jumped out of the Salamander. He was greeted by two men, obviously Colonials, both were in the traditional olive and red uniform of Jaegers. Both looked exhausted and if it wasn't obvious in the report it was obvious now, the Colonials were not trench fighters. Though there uniforms were dirty and ripped, they still made an honest effort to make their uniforms parade ground acceptable. They lacked all the equiptment characteristic of trench fighters, they had no grenades, no axes or sharpened spades, and no make shift armor plates. They were dead when their boots hit the ground. Both stared at Harken's augmetic jaw.
"Uhhh Sir, if you could follow us, sir." One said, eyes never leaving Harken's jaw.
Harken grunted as he followed the two down the maze of the trench. Harken passed several Colonials that were obviously shell shocked. Nearly every soldier held his rifle in a very lax manner, these men were defeated in every single sense of the word. This would be the biggest test of Harken's career and right now it looked very realistically like it would be his last. The two Jaegers stopped at a nearly collapsed bunker and Harken entered. A man going through a nervous breakdown sat at a table cluttered with maps. A half empty bottle of amasec sat on the table.
"Magir Derinngr?" Harken asked, struggling with his augmetic jaw. Harken recieved the augmetic when he was zealous Cadet Commissar in a Death World regiment. On a night mission Harken was the target of an attempted fragging and a piece of shrapnel tore through his original jaw.
"Derringer's dead, axe to the head." The man said without looking up.
"You listen here, you will address me as sir when I talk to you or I will, but a bullet through your soft skull you son of a grox!" Harken boomed, his jaw moving fluidly.
The man looked up and fell out of his seat, seeing Harken's peaked cap. Any breakdown he was having became far worse and he started to sob on the floor. A pool of urine formed beneath his wimpering body. Harken couldn't help but pity the man. His whole world turned upside down in the past month. Harken noticed the Captain's insignia on the man's uniform and walked over to him.
"Major what's yerr name?" Harken in the softest voice he could muster.
"Volze, sir, I'm so sorry sir." Volze's began to sob harder.
"Son stand up, what the hell is going on here?"
Volze sniffed, "It's hell sir, we have nothing, no support weapons, artillery, and barely enough food, sir. They've annihilated us we can't stop them, the raiding parties come every night and they kill about a dozen, we can't stop them, sir."
"Volze," Harken started, "I'll get us supplies, you gotta lead your men or this front will collapse."
"Yes sir." Volze said softly.
"Okay let's tour the lin-". Harken started.
The whole world started to shake and part of the bunker collapsed. The noise of exploding artillery shells was deafening. Volze started sobbing again and cuffed his hands around his ears in an attempt to cancel out the noise. The bombardment last for nearly a minute which seemed like an eternity.
"What was that Volze?" Harken yelled, his ear drums rattled.
Harken didn't hear the response, but he read Volze's lips, "The end."
To be continued!
