Hi all.

I'm looking on my Nids codex at the moment and for the first time I see that the "not winged Tyrant" limitation doesn't exist in the last version of the rules.
Actually this means that eventually we can use guards with a Flyrant.

Ok, I know yours thinking'.., why we should use this combination?
Eh.. and why not? (not considering prices for the moment..)

My questions are:
- for all the time the Tyrant will join the unit the max move-distance will be the little one? 6" in this case?
- the Guards will give cover in anycase (I think yes 'cause the wings doesn't count anyway for real LoS)?
- when, eventually, the Tyrant will leave the unit to advance faster what the guards will do? If in synaptic range and if not?
- what do you think about this possibility? For sure will assure us a more durability of the Tyrant, at least for the firsts 2 turns.. don't you think?

You move as fast as the slowest model in the unit; so 6"
Yes, you are likely to get cover as the tyrants are not MCs and do not need to be 50% covered
You cannot leave theunit as you are only given permisson to JOIN the unit, you are NOT an IC and therefore cannot leave

In other words - no point.

Actually there is a point. While a single guard costs as many points as the wings themselves, taking a single one allows some cover saves/ablative wounds to be taken in the early game (when 'Nids don't really have the range to punch back). Make sure the Guard dies at some point, otherwise you have a slow (but unwounded and still nasty) Tyrant. Once the guard does die your hive tyrant (largely unhurt) will be flying 12" and punishing your opponent for deciding to shoot at it. If they ignore the unit to prevent this from happening, the tyrant is no slower than the Swarmlord and should see combat by turn 3 or 4 at the latest (with full wounds).

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.
