Ok in the Blood angels 5th edition codex page 21 i think...it was stated that sanguinor pushed his jumpacks to the max and lifted himself and a 30 foot Bloodthirster into the sky...a 30 foot bloodthirster...jumpacks must be packing alot of juice...if a jumpack can do that...why dont terminators use jumpacks then? i mean a 30 foot bloodthirster...

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Perhaps it isn't so much a weight issue as it is a technical one. I would put forth the possibility that the Terminator armor (which contains sophisticated technology) is incompatible with the technology of the jump pack. Also, the aerial movements of the jump pack require a great deal of dexterity, which we all know Terminator armor inhibits. Another possibility is the idea of spreading resources around. They don't stick jump packs on Terminators for the same reason that they don't give the entire Devastator squad heavy weapons: it is better to spread your resources out. One squad of teleporting Terminators plus one squad of assault marines beats a squad of jump pack equipped Terminators plus a tactical squad. These are just my own personal thoughts.

Because Pushing the limits to Max 1 time is a lot different then Redlining the pack every 30 seconds or so.

A Jump pack is a rocket thruster that produces small bursts of heavy thrust(followed by several light busts for guidance and ease of decent), to put that on a 1-ton chassis and expect a Very heavy burst followed by several heavy bursts, and then expecting that amount of output to be maintained over time is a little extra ridiculous.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

2 possabilities here.

1) the Sanguinor has a more powerful Jump pack and/or uses his wings.

2) Batnipple powers make him supoer awsome like that.

I don't really believe what the Sanguinor does can really apply to the entirety of all Jump-Packs. We don't even know if he is truly a physical being, or a psychic manifestation. Also, Termies can already teleport.

If the Blood Angels can apparantly get a Land Raider airborne (and down again safely, which is a whole 'nother trick) I can't image why a mere bloodthirster raises any eyebrows...

In any event, I think Kel has it right. It's a one-off emergency this'le-get-me-in-trouble-with-the-techmarines thing.

Or the Bloodthirster flapped his wings at the same time that the Sanguinor pressed the on button. But because the Blood Angles were so in love with their Primarch they didn't notice that the 30ft Deamon was doing all of the work!

Terminators are primarily designed for combat in enclosed spaces where enemy fire can be focussed to such a degree that ordinary power armour just doesn't last so putting a jump pack on it defeats the purpose of the armour.

Whilst it isn't possible in the current rules Dreadnoughts used to be able to be equipped with jump packs.

Jump Packs are moved with a turbine or some other device but they incorporate anti-gravity packs that negate some of the weight. Typically jump pack equipped troops make drops from aircraft so, as well as reducing weight the jump pack must also have enough power for its wearer to slow their descent.

For a one time feat, performed by such a being as the Sanguinor, whose jump pack isn't exactly usual then it's probably not entirely beyond the pale.

Maybe the Sanguinor was able to do it because he was gifted with bad fluff in his favor! Maybe it just doesnt matter!
