So I need an idea for a unit filler for my skaven army

Undead have it easy, just model a few hands sticking out of the ground and a few gravestones or a coffin and you have a 40x40mm unit filler.
Dark elves have an easy time with it just modeling caged (or just shackled) prisoners.
Mankind can just model a big flashy banner type thing being held by 2 men or a knight or something.
I have seen portals mixed in daemon armies.
Goblins have mushrooms, orcs have crudely built structures with WAAAAGH written on a draped banner

Now for Skaven, the most obvious would be warpstone jutting from the ground. But my army is not magic heavy, it is more horde, combat, and shooting heavy.

What do skaven drag to battle that can be modeled as an awesome looking unit filler?

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause.

I haven't actually done anything with the idea yet, but if you look on amazon, you can get small hamster 'balls' -- those things they run around in. They even sell some that are neon green. My idea was to buy a bunch of those and model them with rats running around inside (Maybe even make some fancy doomwheels with them).

Skaven drag Hellpit Abominations into battle... the way every Skaven army has those things, you might as well just model a bunch of rat ogre arms coming out of a hole on a base, and toss them into every unit.

A whole army of hell pit abominbrokens! woo hoo!

Rat Swarms in the units? on a 40x40 base put 2-3 clanrats and some Giant rats.

That would look cool, and be similar to what the army book art looks like. It won't really stand out, but it will take up room and fit in with the theme of the army.

Maybe a big wooden platform with a piece of warpstone on it?

Could do another platform with junk to make future warmachines with (wood, metal scrap, rope).

Oh actually I just thought of something way better.

A giant bloated female rat giving birth to a dozen small skaven. Put 2 40x40 bases together and put in it your clanrat unit. That would look really sick.

Umm... cool, but ewww...

I think I might go with the rat swarm/giant rat mixing along with some pox rats put in here or there (have an awesome conversion idea for those)

But keep the ideas coming!

I think that my second idea would be a comical idea, but the first one would be better and less disturbing to look at. But, the more disturbing element could work for you as they are Skaven after all.

I had a breeze through the old 5th ed book (the last time I played Skaven) and right on the inside cover there is this colossal mechanical rat ogre surrounded by other Skaven.

If you don't have that book, I'll try to upload a pic (if interested) later.

No I dont. Could you? That would be great

Have a Greyseer or Plauge Priest casting Vermintide. Get a whole bunch of plastic rats scrambling over each other in a giant wave.

Or how about a stegadon corpse? or, if you're willing to go all kinds of crazy with the greenstuff, a bunch of slaves with chains on, culled from various races?

Here it is. On further reflection though, it looks more like an old warlock engineer, but still pretty cool.

But a common idea with skaven is lots of different units mixed together, so any random model thrown on a 40x40 base with some rats will make great unit filler.

Hope this inspires.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I've seen people using crippled Rat Ogres, mixed in rat swarms and soforth... by far the strangest unit filler I ever saw was in a Skaven army... 2x2 hunks of bright yellow swiss cheese, based, in the middle of clanrat units.
