Subject: One thing to consider when building an 8th army list.

Ive been reading alot of the army lists lately on the boards and ive noticed one trend that I think people should adress. There is a new battle in the rule book which has breaking points. This is how it works take this into consideration when building an army list please.
To lose the game you have to reach your breaking point. this is 1 point for every 1000 points you own. for example a 2500 point army would ahve 2 breaking points.
You get a fortitude point for every banner in your army (including battle banners) and two for your general.
Its irked me to the point that I had to make this post as ive seen far to many armys with 3 or 4 breaking points. Ive even seen some with just 2 which would auto lose if they rolled the senario.
Please make lists with this in mind.

That's only 1 out of the 6 missions though, right?
I can see why you should keep it in mind, but the majority of the players at the local shop consider it crap(there is a reason why the few Necron players hate Phase Out).

It maybe crap but its a mission that could be rolled. Im just telling people to take it into consideration when building lists because this could creep up.

Your breaking point is actually rounded up. So anything from a 2001 point list to a 3000 point list would actually have 3 breaking points.
You also lose if the number of points in your army is equal to the breaking point, not less than, which makes a big difference!
Unfortunately, my list is one of those that auto-loses this scenario, although I'm well aware of it. There's just nothing I can do about it while still taking a tree army. This probably belongs in WHFB Discussions.

Is it if your fortitude points are equal to your breaking point and if so do you lose a fortitude point for each banner you lose and two if your general dies?
For example:
In a 3000pt game (breaking point 3), would an army with 5 fortitude points (general + 3 banners) have to lose two of its banners or its general to lose the game?

Polonius wrote:Well, seeing as I literally will die if I ever lose a game of 40k, I find your approach almost heretical. If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

My lists aren't much better off, but at least provide something. 2.5K has - while a 3 Break Point - 7 Fortitude Points. Not amazing, but compared to a lot of lists I've seen at my GW recently not gak either. I can also easily use the 7 list in a 2K game, or bump up to eight in 2.001-3K, so it's not a problem there.

This is interesting. I usually have 6-7 points in my 2.5k lists. I might have to start doing a bit more.

Well, if lists at your hobby shop are anything like mine, you'll still be in the lead. I swear, the game I played last Saturday my opponent would have had only three or four points in a 2.5K game. Not many of the other armies did much better, often focusing on a few big bricks with standards in them (about 2-3) and just a general (no BSB). Once people learn of that game type, I'm sure it's quickly going to change (I mean, who'd like to know they got beat by Orcs & Goblins even after wiping out their two big units and general just because they kept two banners and took one of yours?).

So 1000pt is 1 break point and 2k 2pts and so on.
you get one point for each banner, and 2 for general.
so for my 2k DE list i have 6, 3k i have 11 ^-^
If i lose enough fortitude points that it equals to the breaking point.
You automatically lose?
Sounds pretty harsh, especially when about to start a wood elf army
