If I have a power fist + CCW+ Pistol.

Can I choose to not use the power fist so that I can strike at a higher initiative?

If I choose not to use the power fist do i get the extra attack for having a CCW and a pistol? How about if I just have the PF and CCW?

You must use any special CCW that you have, so you must use the fist.

Sorry, missed the last part, you never get an additional attack with the fist for having an additional CCW.

In short, No. You must ALWAYS use any special weapon you have. So a Model with PF, CCW and Pistol always uses the PF and doesn't get a bonus attack.

Where does it say you have to use the special weapon. I can't find anything that says that in the book.

However; if you have Pistol, Powerfist and Power weapon you can choose which to fight with(power weapon or fist) because they are both Special ccw and if you go the Power weapon route you strike at I and get the +1 attack for the Pistol, but Lose the X2S.

The only character I can think of off hand with this is Colour Sgt Kell

If you are choosing which special to use, you don't get the +1A (BRB, pg. 42).

Question, could someone help me find where you don't get an extra attack when you use a powerfist and have an extra CCW?

Thanks

BRB, under the decription of special weapons.

LCs, THs, and PFs require another identical weapon to get an extra attack.

Except, page 35 doesnt say what some people here seem to think.

Page 35 requires models to use any special close combat attacks that they have. This is NOT the same as use any special cc weapons. A model is required to use any special abilities/ attacks, they cant only attack with their regular attacks.

However, there is no requirement that a model use any special close combat weapons.

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k).

Page 42 does, though.

Ah yes, page 42 tells us what to do when we are fighting with two single handed weapons. But pg 42 doesnt tell us that we have to use all of the special ccw, it just tells us what happens when we use various combinations of weapons.

Not quite. It actually details what happens when your model is equipped with those combinations of weapons.

If your model has a powerfist and a chainsword, it fights as detailed in the section on fighting with a normal and a special CCW. He is not given the option of attacking with anything other than the powerfist.

Where it falls down of course, as debated ad nauseum in the Marneus Calgar threads previously, is where a model has more than two weapons, as the rules on page 42 only detail combinations of two... which was all that was necessary at the time the rulebook was written.

But thats what we have here, we have a model with more than two weapons as the op stated, so yes we do have to wend our way through the Calgar ideas to get to where we need to be.

And yes, pg 42 doesnt tell us that we have to use any particular weapons, it gives us rules as to what happens for different combinations.

In giving the rules for those combinations, it forces you to use those particular weapons.

If the model has a CCW and a special CCW, all of its attacks are made with the special CCW. That's not optional. You have to attack with the CCW.

For three weapons, there is no RAW answer. It's simply not covered by the rules. So you have to apply a house rule to deal with it, either ruling hat you work you way down the chart to the most restrictive option (assuming that models need to attack with whatever special attacks they have), ruling that where page 42 refers to being 'equipped' it actually means 'using for this combat'... which allows you to choose which two weapons to use, or coming up with something else entirely.

Personally, I prefer the second option, but that's just a personal preference, not a statement of RAW. For that, we need GW to catch up with the fact that the codexes contain options not covered by the core rules.

As an aside, though, who can have a powerfist, a CCW and a pistol, as per the original post?
