I want to start a Witch Hunters army, but I dont want to pay all the money for an all metal army and only a few plastic tanks.
So I would like to ask you fellow Dakka Dakka members to quote if plastic infatary for a Witch Hunters.

One of the main reasons of thinking this is because they would be much more customisible and posible. Also there would be much more weapon options and upgrades.

1.) With the next Codex Sororitas (still far away), there will certainly be plastic Sisters, including Seraphim (not sure about Repentia).
2.) I am not sure that plastics are cheaper than metal, as the cheapest IG army currently seems to be Steel Legion
3.) A Bolter is quite a big weapon. Don't expect too much variation in poses.

Personally I like the metal models that have considerable variety and lots of details, as is possible with metal miniatures.
In 4th edition, you could get along with 2x10 Sororitas standard and 2x8 Seraphim in 1500 points. So they are not a horde army and even as metals (ebay) quite affordable.

I would actually be ok with not getting plastic basic sisters if they had cool new units and plastic Celestians or something. Honestly now plastic isn't that much cheaper...

The great thing about plastic sisters would be that they can be easily used for most of the units in the codex.

Plastic Sisters =
- Basic Sisters
- Dominions (with extra spec weapons on sprue or in package)
- Celestians (with extra weapons and bitz in package)
- Retributors (with extra hvy weapons in package)
- Seraphim (with extra weapons and jump pack bitz in package, upgrade bitz for coolness)

How about HQ, like a plastic Canoness or something like that.

Hells yes. I used to have a Sisters army; not interested in having an all metal army ever again. If they make good plastic Sisters kits, and don't screw the rules too badly, I'd be down with a new Sisters army. Otherwise, I'll probably let them stay in nostalgia.

Yes, I say absolutely they need plastic core Battle Sisters. I would even bet that we'll see plastic Seraphim in the future, but I'm willing to bet that we won't see plastic Repentia in the future. I would certainly like to see plastic Celestians too. A plastic or reissue of the Excorcist would be nice as well.

I won't deny, the army would loose something if Sisters were introduced in plastic - but I still voted yes.

On the proviso that the quality was as good or better than the current (ancient) metal. Let's not beat about the bush, the Sisters have the best infantry models in the game bar none - that must remain the case if they are remade in plastic.

On the other hand, I am very glad that I have my metal army and I wouldn't part with it.

I hope that the new codex (if it ever materialises) will introduce some new units, with plastic models, but I will not be 'upgrading' by standard battle sisters to plastic.

I'd also second a plastic Exorcist - or at least, I would, if I had not just ordered another metal one on Friday...

Plastic Pentient engines (with rules to make them useful) would be wonderful.

Too true

But i would NEVER retire any of my metal sisters , i would just mix the new plastic ones in with metal ones to mix-up and de-standardize the look of the existing squads and a second squad of naked chainsaw waving chicks is never a bad thing

Plastic penitent engines !!!!

My god i would have babys with with the person who gives me plastic penitent engines ( yes i am still mentally scared from assembling 4 metal ones )

It is cheaper to MASS produce plastic but sisters aren't a huge seller so it is cheaper to do them in metal. (Making a pewter mold is much cheaper & lasts much longer than a plastic one)

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

I tend to agree with this point of view , with the current level of detail coming out in plastic i see no reason why the whole range can't be " plasticized "

I assume the cost will be a factor

Plastic is better for basic sisters and Seraphim, more poseable limbs, easier options for special weapons ect. Should GW make them plastic? Yes.

Will they?

I follow the rumours pretty closely (as in, I've been known to check multiple times/day).

S'far as anyone knows there have been three sightings of potential future Sisters Models.

One appears to be a power-armoured woman wielding two cats-o-nine-tails. This was thought to be a new (named?) Repentia Mistress, but apparantly more than one such model may appear in one squad... Bizare.

The next seems to be a power armoured woman with wrist-mounted storm bolters - nothing more is known about this model, but rumour suggests she is a named character.

Finally, there appears to be a named Seraphim, she seems to have a power sword, possibly a combi-weapon annd her jump-pack is supposed to look more like that of a marine (bulky) but with ornate touches.

No-one seems to know any more than this about new Sisters models - and the above are unlikely to be plastic. All we can be sure of is that, given the technical limitations of plastic, any plastic sisters will be all-new sculpts.

I personally like the metal models. The only reason I'd buy plastic ones is because they are cheaper.

Personally, I say no. I have to say that of the remaining metal models the sisters have stood the test of time quite nicely and I thinkn other models are in more desparate need of being converted over to multi-pose plastics as opposed to the sisters.

1.) Plastic moulds are expensive, so you need many sales to make it worth economically. So an all plastic army would mean: No characters, no rares, only 4-6 mass models per army.
2.) Plastic can't for physical reasons be as sharp at the edges as metal or resin. And because the moulds are steel not rubber, you can't have undercuts which reduces sculpting possibilities a lot.

So wanting an all plastic Sororitas army would mean: Fewer options, no characters and less detailed miniatures. Not so great.

I think it's agreed that the characters (if Azezel sources speak truth) are definitely going to remain metal. In fact I can't think of many (any really) characters that are made of plastic at all.

It's not too much surely to simply ask for the basic troop to be given a plastic remake?

Given that the metal battle sister squads are no longer available from GW, I'm hoping that they're not retiring the line entirely and will be releasing them in plastic. Frankly, having just about all my special / heavy weapon models look nearly identical is rather annoying.

The Sororitas squads weren't available at the release month, did that point at them being squatted after just one month? No. All the models including the Exorcist are still available. And of course will they get plastic standards and some plastic elite plus some plastic support at the next release. Every army gets that.

I don't know, even back in 3rd ed every army, sans Sisters and GKnights got plastic basic troops choices and more.

Not only did GW set a precedence with not giving an army plastic, they did it with the said same armies that are now in question.

Which many have said would be stupid, wasteful and considering the time since the last lot of repackages took place, really, really, late.

And to all saying that plastics take lots of money to make; So making a plastic kit that would be used for every sister on foot option is a bad idea? I mean, each player alone would need a good ten or so boxes to make an army of any real size.
Hell, throw in bolt pistols and jump-packs and it would cover every unit.

I'm personally hopeful of an update but it seems GW is determined to force me out of the hobby well before then.

Sisters of Battle are unpopular. Really unpopular - the least popular army in the whole game, and by a margin of more than a couple of percentage points.

Now - one has to ask, is that because they are all-metal and/or because they just get no love from GW? If that's the case then a new 'dex, some plastic kits and maybe a novel series would be well-worth the investment for GW, and best of luck to them.

On the other hand, if Sisters are unpopular for some other reason (let's not open that can of worms here) then spending £75 grand apiece on new molds is a galacticaly bad idea for GW.

Realistically, they'd need at least two, one for foot-sloggers and one for Seraphim (I'd like to see a third kit for Celestians) - and they'd need to sell around 3'500 of each kit to make even a small profit.

I'd love to see it happen, I even think that it will happen - but it's a gamble for GW.
