Hi all,

I'm thinking about getting into Warmachine. If I do, I'd like to pick up an existing battlegroup before the plastic versions cycle in this fall. Are the cards that appear in the Mk II Quickstart Rules on the PP website simplified versions of the full cards? Or will they adequately replace the old cards in the metal boxes?

Thanks,
Shawn

You should check before you buy with the retailer. I don't know if PP will replace starter box cards.

Your retailer SHOULD have a deck or two that was mailed to them for the explicit purpose of replacing cards in old blisters. Ask your FLGS owner about it, and he'll probably be able to get you the up-to-date versions.

As for the quickstart cards, they're the exact same as the cards you'd get with the box. The rules themselves may be a little toned down (I know the rules for power attacks used to be left off), but you ought to pick up Prime anyway for the full rules.

None of my local retailers carry the game, so I'll be special ordering a box.

It seems kind of strange that the online Quick Start rules would refer to MK II but include MK I cards. Oh well.

I think the reason they haven't changed the cards in the metal boxed sets is because the plastic ones are coming uot in a few months. They are probably just waiting for existing inventory to go away before they repackage stuff which costs more money.

Nono, the online rules are MkII. The cards you SHOULD get with the box, assuming you had a retailer and he didn't just sit on his ass instead of replacing cards in blisters.

I recently bought a battle group and it came with the mkII cards which are identical to the ones on the quickstart rules and the ones you get in the faction deck.

I picked up the Cygnar box recently and it had the MkI cards in it. Just go to the PP website and email customer service. I had the new cards within a week.

How do you know if they are MkII or MkI cards?

look at the pointscost.

Also on the mk1 card the artwork of the fig it represents is bigger. Thirdly, the mkII cards will have icons on them.

if you bought a box with metal models you have a 95% chance it is old cards btw...

In your head, screwing with your thoughts...

Ouch, never seen a quadruple-post like that... Anyway the MK1 cards all have full art and their points costs are in triple digits as opposed to single/double.

miniaturemarket.com also sells individual cards for 50 cents each. I find them way, way more reliable than trying to get anything directly from Privateer.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

That sounds really counter productive.

Ordering from a mail order place that offers 25% off all Warmachine stuff, has a great reputation and sponsors forwardkommander.com?

I've got some Mk1 stuff I don't have cards for. I could either buy a deck for two or three cards, order cards from PP and likely never get them (Privateer is f**king terrible at shipping anything outside the US), or add them to an order from Miniature Market. I wonder what option I'll go for.

I have had missing cards and black and white cards witrh my MKI mini's. They have been good about shipping it out. Third time I tried however they where a bit more reluctant, but after a reminder they send the stuff out to me...

I think they are pretty good about replacing items. I just hope nobody abuses the service...
