Does the BA Psychic Power 'Shackle Soul' work on Fearless models like Chaos Marines and Nids?

Thanks for the info.

What does the rule say? Is it a pinning test, or a moral test? If it is a leadership test then it works.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

It says leadership test. So I can shackle the souls of some nids?...Awesome!

Yep, it works on fearless units.

Does it work on vehicles? The BRB says vehicles never take morale tests but it doesn't say anything about Leadership tests. If it does do they test at 10 or not have to test because they don't have a LD value?

AFAIK, if the target does not have a leadership stat, then it is considered immune to effects that need a leadership test.
Unless the entry for a specific vehicle states otherwise (Psychic Pilot).

What are you basing that statement on?

Shackle Soul allows units of all types to be selected as a target so it may target vehicles. It requires leadership tests of it's targets.
Vehicles never take Moral tests (P63) but no mention is made of leadership tests.
Characteristic tests tell us that a model with a stat of 0 auto-fails (P8) but no mention is made of models that do not have that stat.
The BA FAQ makes no mention of this power.

This is a rules black-hole. A leadership test is required but we cannot resolve a leadership test where there is no leadership stat on the target model.

Work-arounds: Either vehicles auto-fail or vehicles are not valid targets for this power.

Yeah that is what I figured but it sems truly ambiguous. I would like to shackle soul a certain pesky Storm Raven but I'm not going to try it in a tournament or a casual game for different reasons.

I've always played it as not a valid target. Definitely fodder for a RAW/RAI war of words...

That's probably the best way but with such a total lack of rules the RAI could go either way.

It isnt a target; it cannot ever take the test, as it does not have the appropriate stat to test against.

+1^

You are not effected by something if it calls for you to make a check on a stat you do not have.

I.E. vehicles can not take toughness tests, and are unaffected by anything that calls for one.

Because they HAVE a leadership stat, all the time for psychic powers.

Just to point out a psychic power in which vehicles can be forced to take ld tests, the IG Psyker Primaris can use Nightshroud which can force ld tests on vehicles. From pg 33 of the Imperial Guard codex:

Nightshroud wrote:(...)any unit wishing to shoot at the psyker (or the unit he is with) must first take a Leadership test or forego their Shooting phase (vehicles count as Leadership 10 for the purposes of Nightshroud).(...)

Again, this is an exception to the rule as the psyker power specifically tells you that vehicles have ld 10 for the test, and granted, Nightshroud is NOT shackle soul, and I don't know what Shackle Soul does as I've never had it used on me and i've never read the wording, however I just wanted to point out a power that can force a ld check on vehicles.
