Hey all,

I've recently just read the Eisenhorn novel by Dan Abnett and I was wondering if there is any way to incorporate him or a character similar to him into the game. I play Blood Angels (have since 2ed) and Tyrandis, and I am interested in starting a new army. I'd like to try and make an Eisenhorn model himself and his retinue if I could, at least the main characters: Bequin, Aemos, etc.

I was thinking of starting DH or WH, but I don't know what their codex situation is. Any input from anybody would be great.

He's a real character in the expansion game Inquisitor (and GW sells a model of him). Not that you shouldn't convert your own (always a better option), just letting you know he's out there.

Technically, he's an Ordo Xenos inquisitor, so he doesn't really go along with DH or WH. However, since DH has the capability to run radical inquisitors (like Eisenhorn), you can probably run him that way in the DH codex. I'd recommend making him as a counts-as Inquisitor Lord.

There's really no way to incorporate eisenhorn into a current army... hes more badass than any character can be in daemonhunters or guard, but not badass enough to be a SM character...

wait for a new daemonhunters codex, in the next 20 years.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Yea I have the inquisitor version of him. No one around plays that game though...My FLGS doesn't own a piece of terrain that he can fit through...lol

Yea I knew it was a stretch to fit him in. I really just wanted a fun list and kinda make it a game within a game. ie let Eisenhorn pursue the enemy HQ or something like that.

Would DH be worth it to do now? Aren't there rumors of new codexes and stuff coming soon?

A new day, a new time zone.

You can take Daemonhosts with a DH Inquisitor, but not with WH, so that makes that selection pretty easy.

*edit* Whatever happens with the new codices, whenever they arrive, you're not going to lose the option of inquisitors and henchmen, so at least on the Eisenhorn end of things, whatever you do will be fine.

Current rumours suggest the following:
1.) Grey Knight Codex around January (less Inquisition than currently or none at all)
2.) Codex Sororitas (maybe within 18months) focussing on Ecclesiarchy -> probably no Inquisition
3.) Inquisition supplement or WD rules some time in the future

Eisenhorn is too big a character for normal games, the Chuck Norris of Inquisition. And he has never led an army IIRC. But maybe you could use an Inquisitor with current DH/WH rules or just imagine him as leading your army (him being "mission marker" or terrain, not HQ gamewise), with a well painted retinue and all (including FW models -> DKoK quartermaster etc). Or you turn to the Dark Heresy RPG and take Eisenhorn as the boss of your group

I didn't get the impression that Eisenhorn was too big...I mean hell, look at how many people play dante, calgar, eldrad, and the like.

In Eisenhorn's stories, he's usually running with his group and tries to avoid more of the larger battles. Yes of course he ends up in them occasionally, but he is very much a lone wolf...I'm pretty sure he even says that a few times.

I think I'd like the feel of a DH army and try to base it off of one of his smaller battles that are mentioned in the book.

Rumour I've heard from GW staff is an inquisition codex incorporating all three different branches and dependant on the type of order your hq represents, hereticus or xenos etc, determines which force becomes a troop choice. So if you had a sisters hq, you'd be able to take Grey Knights still but as elites or a GK hq and you can take sisters options as elites. Rolled into one and a plastic Stormtrooper kit will be released to represent the basic bog standard troop entry for the different forces. So the new codex will probably have rules for many different options of Inquisitor. Plastis G Knights and Sisters also on way!

Oh yeah, and all before christmas 2010!

So I've heard!

What, your store doesn't have any CoD ruins? They work fine with Inquisitor minis (except for Brother Hulk of the steroid abusers) - with their 3" levels and all.

HQ: Radical inquisitor lord. Bolt pistol, force weapon (and retinue).
Null rod (held by Bequn, his acolyte - who can carry his wargear) to represent the 'untouchable' factor.
Aemos is a sage.
He also has "warriors" or other acolytes in his retinue.

Elite: Cherubael is his daemonhost.

Naturally this means that *NO* GK can be taken. That drops the power somewhat. No mystics in his retinue either.

You could do the Cadian Pylon force with Guard (using regular troops as the guard and the 'kasrkin' (from the story) as either inquisitorial storm troopers or just regular storm troopers) and a couple of valkyries.

Very much doable.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

Thanks Chrome, that is the kind of idea I was looking for. I'm not necessarily looking for an uber competitive list, just something fluffy and fun.

That's a neat way to work in Cherubael.
