Does anyone know how to paint metallic red?

"As I looked into its dead black eyes, I saw the terrible sentience it had in place of a soul. Behind that was the steel will of its leader. Further still I could feel its primogenitor coldly assessing me from the void. And looking back from the furthest recesses of the alien's mind... I can only describe it as an immortal hunger. It is this we cannot kill."

mix 1 part boltgun metal to 1 part red, or put down a base coat of boltgun metal (on top of some lighter base color) and then wash it over with a very thin coat of red.

I've achieved metallic green by painting boltgun metal, then coating it with undiluted green ink. should work for red, too.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Paint the area with Mithril Silver, and wash it with multiple coats of Baal Red. Use different metallic paints for different shades.

I would use gold rather then silver.
Or try other paint making companies

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I couldn't find paints I liked from other companies (there's a Vallejo metallic 'Turn Signal Red' but I couldn't get it to cover well) so tried the silver-and-wash method on a test miniature a while ago:

In the end I decided not to use the technique for the rest of my force, but maybe it will be useful for you. For a 'redder' look you might try a glaze with Blood Red and using some Gryphonne Sepia, too.

Buy an iridescent medium, they are designed to be mixed with regular acrylic colours and produce a coloured metallic.

Will do exactly what you want it to.

Thank you all guys!
I now should have enough ideas to try out!

Bah, I only read that yesterday, too! I clicked on the Topic, thinking, 'Hey, I spotted that just last night!', but I was too late.

Well, good luck painting your Metallic Red! I'd go with the above Tutorial, personally!
