Don't get me wrong. I love 40k, the fluff, the game, the models.... But it seems to hate me. As my sig says I have tried several armies of this game, the latest being Tau. And yet I can't really say I love to play any of them. I can never really put my finger on it (except in the case of Tau and 'Nids, I didn't like them because they were missing a phase). So, which army should I try next? I have not put Orks, or IG in the poll because in my small gaming group, they are already played. I haven't put Chaos Space Marines because to me, they are just spikey marines, not matter what anyone says. I'm thinking of Eldar (based armound Asurmen), Khorn Daemons, or Whitch Hunters. Tell me why you voted below.

NO! that should definitely NOT be a rule!!!! Thats just gross! I don't want some slaanesh warrior charging me, Screaming a BloodLust filled roar, with his Jolly Roger Flopping around!!!! Thats just gross! I mean.....if it was a female warrior and she wasn't that bad looking, I think I could capture a few prisoners. My 'Interrogation' skill will be most useful then - Commissar NIkev

I voted eldar. You said you like having an army that can perform in both killy phases (assault and shooting) and weren't interested in marines. Eldar fit in there nicely for you. Be warned, however, they have a steep learning curve. Very easy to lose units, but they are also very powerful if you can get them in the correct situation.

Eldar is great, the models and the fluff. I'd go for it.
SoB, ladies in armor, come on.

Marines can be shooty and close combat fighters. I dont tend to like them though. Every mini seems the same to me.

Eldar will give you more choices and the minis will vary on colours and styles which keeps things interesting.

In the end though, its you who has to decide.

Warmachine?

Now is a really bad time to start Sisters of Battle. Our codex is OOP and the models are only available in blister so a basic squad troop squad without transport will set you back £53.50 (I calculated it a few days ago).

That said, you may be able to find an army on ebay - just lately a few SoB players have been selling their armies in disgust due to the way GW are acting.

Out of your choices I'd have to advise you to go with eldar, being a shooty army that can hold their own in assault there's really nothing not to love. They are not a commonly played army, which is always a plus. But hey, maybe you're just not a 40k person, maybe you would enjoy WHFB more?

Alright, now I have to find out what buy. Thinking 2 squads of Dire Avengers and Asurmen. That's 594 points. Going for 750 at this early stage I suppose.

Two things. First, I advise against playing Eldar. They're a dying race for a reason.

Second, your signature doesn't say that. (At least, it doesn't show up on my comp.) All I see is a handful of signature chain messages.

Yet another nitwit to add to my (4 poster, I am not a meanie!) ignore list... >.> Not just from this... consider it, the straw that broke the camel's back.

Why don't you like the other armies, is it because they don't fit your play style, so you face planted with them, or is it simply because they were downright no fun?

Asurmen might not be the best theme for winning. Cool enough model though. I voted for daemons regardless.

I have a friend who recently started collecting daemons, took him a while to get the hang of it, though he now constantly wins games in the name of khorne.

He has a blast playing them, and I find them to be more fun to play against than any flavor of marine.

From what you describe I recommend eldar. The main issue is all their units are specialty more or less, so you're opponent has an easy time prioritizing threats. However if you want action through all the phases eldar is the way to go.

For range go with dark reapers, path finders & fire dragons. For melee you have the avatar, scorpions & harlequins. it won't be easy to get the hang of them but they can be very good when used right.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

Well I removed it from my sig once I decided to go with Eldar.

Edit: To anwer your question Syphonious

Didn't like marines because they all looked the same. They are also really popular which, I have always had a natural aversion too.
Didn't like Daemonhunters because they were much to expensive, and had no squad box (that was available for purchase)
Didn't like Tau because they were useless in assault.
Didn't like 'Nids because thew were useless in shooting. Last edition 'Nids at least.

The metal models in Warmachine need a boost especially the big ones.

Swing-and-a-miss!

Why didn't you like the armies that you used... then gave up on.
