Ahh, so I'm a latecomer to the Holiday job market, pity that...

I wouldn't expect to get a job at GW (quite competitive I hear, and I'm just not qualified when it comes to rules...) but what exactly does one need to work there?

I'm assuming knowledge of all the rulesets and basic painting ability?

Any former-Red Shirts got tips for getting a job at GW? I'm going to assume they like it if you're a regular rather than some anon off the street?

Quite the contrary. Rules and painting technique can easily be tought. It sales experience you need, because that's what they care about the most.

"What do you need to work at Games Workshop?"

A pulse, and no soul...

OK, OK, kidding!

Familiarity with the games will obviously help, some prior retail experience will be good and enthusiasm for the company too.

Ah well, I stuck my head in the Reading Branch once and was told to bring along my army and start playing games.

I've never gone back simply because I can't drive and I'm too nervous to sit with my army on the bus for 40 minutes...

Where is your personal Chimera transport?

But seriously, retail appears to be primary, followed by TRAINING in the retail hobby. Enthusiasm comes around fifth place after appearance and bs-ery.

Appearance? Bawww...

I got laughed at twice whilst job-hunting :-/

Scrawny nerds with glasses and a stooped posture are clearly amusing to some eh?

Do they even do holiday jobs?

And considering the nature of the place, you'll probably need a CRB check too.

Honestly though, working there sounds like Hell Incarnate.

I mean, at least at McDonalds and Burger King you don't have to work kids parties every weekend....
