So the trailer for DMO looks awesome. I don't play video games but I think this games will make me start. Although it prolly won't be released until 2013. ugh
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of any differences between DMO and the MMO king-of-the-hill, WoW. From the trailer it seems like each player controls a unit instead of a single character. If that is the case I am sold already. If that is not true, then I think I will be sticking solely to table-top gaming.
Can anyone confirm any details about game play?

There are no real details, but it certainly doesnt look like you control a squad. I dont know why you would want to when squad control is terrible in every other game and instead those could be REAL people you team up with (which is 100x cooler).

Welp, if its coming out in 2013, I doubt any of us will get to play it.

Maneuvering your squad in conjunction with another players' squads is just as good and plays more to the large scale, epic battles of the 40K universe.

Deuce, gotta disagree with you. If it is, in fact, squad based, I am out. I think that some of the shots from the trailer could indicate squad based gameplay. I think that some also indicate other gameplay styles. I think that it might have been made to be deliberately confusing.
I think that squad based gameplay would be the worst possible mistake they could make. Oooh, and also, at that point it wouldn't be a MMORPG. The 'R' is for role-playing. Not roles playing. One character. Squad based games are a different genre, and I think that in online play they would break down. I want a more team-work based game. Like I hear Mag is. (Although I have never actually played that.) DoW II tried the squad based thing already. The original DoW did the RTS thing. Now, I want a game where I control an individual character. An FPS, preferably.

Every time we get more info about the game I get a little bit more depressed. So far it's been a slow, steady march down the same old 'point, click, autoswing, special ability, wait, rinse, repeat' MMO grind fest path that so many other games have tried and died. This game really needs to break that mold and do something to set itself apart from the pack. It's got the Intellectual Property license to let it get over any people's reservations about being something new and strange, and it really, really needs to use that 'variety is the spice of life' approach to have any hope of long term health as a game. ....also Planetside kicked all kinds of ass up, down and around the block. The world needs an MMOFPS that Sony Online Entertainment can't screw over with it's retardation.

How can a shooting game be point and click? it just wouldn't work that way.

In the trailer they showed, there was a split second where the player was running with a reticle in the middle of the screen. It seems like you do have control over aiming and shooting.

Dark Millennium is supposed to be a squad based third person shooter. Instead of WoW where you click an ability and let it play itself, you actually manually aim and shoot in Dark Millennium. The game won't come out for two more years though, so the point is moot at the moment. Any number of things can change between now and then.
