I like the first list. You have plenty of fire power to deal with enemy monsters, and you have a lot of infantry that should be able to make it to combat. I think your second list doesn't have enough models on the table and can get overwhelmed quickly.

I agree... also, I don't see deathstars being too common in 8th edition- there are too many big spells that can take them out, and then you're sunk!
