Hi all. Not really new to the hobby (been collecting/building models aimlessly for a while) but newish to the game. Really haven't been able to build a list I am happy with.
I want to start small (1250) and work my way up. I'm trying to build within what models I have (need another Vindi, but whatever) because I am a cheap

Librarian (Null Zone, The Avenger) (combi-melta) = 115
Tactical Squad (10 marines, Flamer, Lascannon, Power Fist, Combi-Melta) = 215
Tactical Squad (10 marines, Flamer, Lascannon, Power Fist, Combi-Melta) = 215
Terminator Squad (5 terminators, cyclone launcher) = 230
Vindicator = 115
Vindicator = 115
Predator (Lascannon sponsons) = 120
Dreadnought (Rifleman) = 125
=1250

Thought is that the Tactical Squads, Dreadnought and Predator would remain largely immobile once they are in range or holding and objective, with the Vindicators and Terminators advancing/flanking while shooting. Librarian is there to provide anti-psyker support (damn Tyranids) and serve as a swiss-army-knife with his template attack and one shot of melta goodness.

Every game I play, I learn a little more, so any criticism or comments would be appreciated before my ego becomes too bruised

Is your theme a gunline?

I feel like you would do well to have some transports. A Lasplas razorback would let you to cs your tac squads, putting the fist, flame, and melta halves in the front where they can use their weapons, while the lascanon squads camp on objectives and shoot any death-stars that pop up.

Tac squads need rides. Also 1 melta shot will rarely return when you need it to. 2 melta shots should give you a fair chance of taking that vehicle down.

Rather than Flamer and melta in each tac squad go all melta in one and all flamer in the other. It will be far more effective.

However if you're going gunline Plasma might be a better fit than flamer for the tac squad.

With this set up I'd add in 2 Razorback to further augment your firepower asnd ensure the Libby can jump in with either tac squad (his melta compliaments one and avenger would compliament the other).

Where to find the points for this though? The only thing in your list that doesn't seem to be doing a lot is the Terminator squad. I'd consider swaping them for Sternguard and again a Razorback and that should give you the points required. If not consider dropping the Lascannons to missile launchers. Maybe something like this:

Libby - 100

Tactical Squad (10 marines, Melta, Missile Launcher, Power Fist, Combi-Melta) in a razorback = 250
Tactical Squad (10 marines, Plasma, Missile Launcher, Combi-plasma) in a razorback = 230

Sternguard (5 man squad, 5 Combi-meltas) in a razorback= 190
Dreadnought (Rifleman) = 125

Vindicator = 115
Vindicator = 115
Predator (Lascannon sponsons) = 120

Mech is king in 5th Ed and you need to consider that both when building your army in terms of transports and in terms of anti-tank.

This list has all the key components from your list but is mobile has better anti-TEQ fire and better anti-tank. While it has given up 2 flamers it has taken on 3 twin-linked heavy bolters to compensate for horde control. You could swap out 2 of the combi-meltas in the sternguard squad for combi-flamers or combi-plasmas depending on an TEQ or swarm heavy meta game.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com
