Why arnt more people taking this guy? Hes the most cost efficient named HQ, his Sword owns (S8), good stats, great abilities. Hes even harder to kill in alot of cases the Mephiston. Dose anyone know of him being played competatively or am I the only person who finds this guy amazing for 160 points. Just imagine him rolling out of a landraider with 5 assault terms backing him up. Am I wasting my time with him?

His sword is 'okay'. Yes it's S8, but I can take normal saves against it.

Whirlwind of Gore is a pretty good ability. Ferocious Instincts is better.

But I can't seem to justify taking him. I like the other HQ's too much even if they cost a little more.

My reaction was to take said die, and hurl it out the window of the 3rd floor of our student union. I then placed a Commissar model next to the rest of my dice pile. They immediately began performing much better.

The sword is also rending and he has an invulnerable save. The save alone makes hime more affective against big stuff then mephiston is.

Ah yeah. The rending is also alright, but no guarantee. The invun save is nice.

Mephy is better however. He will instant kill most big stuff and can move around at a much better rate, will probably go first at I7, strikes at S10 with a force weapon and cannot be instant killed by normal means.

Most big stuff I see now days does not have Eternal warrior. But against large squads I can see Seth being more effective.

IMO, Tycho is better. His rites of battle improve your entire army. His combi-melta and high BS give him good shooting capability and he's basically a MC in assault due to the dead man's hand.

Oh, and if you face orks frequently, he has preferred enemy against them.

And DC Tycho is not as good due to his lack of independent character status.

Just remember that if someone lowers Tycho's leadership with a special rule, you HAVE to use his now craptastic leadership for the entire army.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

He's not good enough for the points, and he doesn't provide any force multiplier to the army around him.

Can't see paying for him.

I forgot that point!

Remember though that it says as long as Tycho is actually on the board does Rites of Battle apply. So you could keep him reserve and prevent his craptastic leader ship from ruining your plans.

People dont take him because it's hard to get off his combo for "WHIRLWIND OF DEATH"

I believe it's UP, UP, DOWN, FORWARD, A, B right?

Tycho(regular not DC) has leadership 10. Also I specifically says DC Tycho does not have RoB.

Quoted from "The Defenestrator":
"Yes, I don't buy into the goody goody image the Tau PR machine has churned out . They're all dirty cold-blooded space-communists if you ask me! Besides, their shiny, selfless "we love everyone for the Greater Good" vibe is so unfitting for the "lulz we're all badass jerks" future of 40k. GW needs to play up their cold, calculating, "join us or die, and probably still die anyway" Borg-y style. That's just me of course."

Because he does not have a power weapon. Rending is nice, but on average you'll still only get 1 rend maybe per combat. His Whilwind of Gore is also highly difficult to make useful, because if he's surrounded on all sides by enemy models he's probably going to die anyways.

I think Seth would be a fun guy to play with in a noncompetitive environment. But even a regular libby is probably a better choice for a competitive list.

GW, I hate you for not fixing DC Tycho!!!!!!

Throw him into large squads of gaunts, consildated IG platoons, and orks (assuming you hit the side of the large squad that keeps the Nob out of combat for the first round) and have a field day. He's also fine against any MEQ unit that doesn't have a powerfist. I actually really really like him. He's a good addition I think personally. Just not as OP as most SC's.

It does hurt him that his weapon is not a power weapon, but it would be funny to run up to a tank and use whirlwind to autohit it!

Seth is a heck of a vehicle killer. If, of course, he can get into an assault...

Nice sculpt too. But he's definitely a "I really want to play a fluffy Flesh Tearer HQ" type option.

A bit of a waste IMO.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
