Pardon me for being new, but it seems to me that threads in the swap shop should not be about E-Bay sales. Just by the title it should be for people looking to trade (and maybe sell) to other people on this site. Just saying that "I have such and such on sale at E-Bay" isn't doing much for the community and doesn't encourage any interaction between members. I assume that's why the swap shop sectin exists and not for just a "hey I'm selling this on E-Bay go look".
Also there should be some rule about thread titles. There should be some standardization of how people title their threads, either have the haves [H] first or the wants [W] first so that it's easy to tell what's going on at a glance. And at least make people have their wants/haves a little more specific than "lots" (which I've seen a couple of times).
Anyway thank you for the site and I hope you consider my suggestions.

The ebay stuff is tolerated as it gets spammed everywhere if there is nowhere for it to go. At least there it is in one easily ignored location. Sometimes interesting things pop up on there that might have been missed too.

While I can respect your answer I still don't like the policy. If you're afraid of E-Bay sales ads showing up all over the boards then all you have to do is start giving people "time outs". I'm sure this is easier said than done but from my POV that looks like all it would take.

Eternal Plague

We do have a system for people to indicate by abbreviation what they are doing in the swap shop:

[H]- Haves of what you have to barter.
[W]- What you want in return.
{location}-I like to use these brackets for location, but that is fine to use [].
Ebay- Indicates it is an e-bay item. They simply create a thread as outlined above and then do their dirty linking.

There is also a detailed listing for what a thread should contain here:

and also listed there is a what-if crap hits the fan in the Swap Shop under Transaction Report Guidelines.

As WarOne posted succinctly in his post, there is a system in place to tell you how to post in the Swap Shop. Specifically, we try to be anal about the EBAY bit as a lot of members don't want to be bothered with ebay links.

There's been a lot of debate in the past regarding prohibiting EBAY links, but ultimately, we decided to allow them to be posted, so long as its mentioned clearly in the thread title that it is an ebay posting. While it's not a "perfect" system, perse, it allows you to easily skip over the thread in question if you have no interest in it.
