Hey all!
Just wanted to find out your fav assassin/s.

I'll sart off by saying mine:
VINDICARE!

I just love snipey guys.
His wargear is awesome (have to use Night Fighting rules to hit him) and the enemys cover saver is reduced by 1! (good bye stealthy guys)
His MARKSMAN ability kills independent characters/squad leaders!

That's enough about my fav assassin, please post yours and reason why.

Im going to have to say Callidus, especially when combo'd with a psyker battle squad.

They drop the units ld to 2~3, her neural shredder wounds vs leadership, you id anything thats not eternal warrior, not to mention moving a tank, or soft infantry unit into the open and out of cover with a word in your ear.

Taken with marbo, and if they both come in on the same turn mayhem can most assuredly ensue

I'd have to say Eversor (Destroyer in latin) is my favorite. Vindicare is great as well as lady Callidus. (A word in your ear can be nasty) All assassins are useful in the element they are designed for.

Callidus followed very closely by the Eversor.

Cullexus is too situational and the Vindicare just isn't all that good (especially for his points).

Death Cult Assassin. Cheap, and your opponent gaks his pants if they pop up near his shooty squads.

I almost forgot about those Death Cults!
But honestly, a 5+ invunerable save and only a few rules, which the Eversor, calldius, cullexus and VINDICARE all have WITH extra bonuses, just is not worth cheapness. Their only advantage is that you can field 3 for 1 elite choice, and there aren't any restrictions for how many you can take (besides the normal 3 Elite slot rule).

Callidus is my fav. C'tan phase sword is just too cool and "A word in your ear..." can get her points back on the first turn.

I still like my Culuxus. Good and crazy. May not be the most effective kid on the block, but they've certainly got a nutty array of abilities.

the only problem I have with those is that if you are up against necrons, their c'tan will target them and disarm them (as one of their abilities aborbs/destroyes ctan phase swords and knives)

But why would an inquisitor send a callidus assassin to kill a necron?

I would say Eversor. Put him next to a psycher battle squad or to and you add +1 to the number of shots he gets. I want to try running him next to 2x10 Psycher battle squads.....who else likes 20+ strength 5 ap 1 shots?

Callidus is right with him.

Vindicare is a waste. He may hit nearly everytime, but he hardly every wounds. If he shoots all 6 phases, more than likely he will wound 3 times. Not great when the above 2 can wipe squads at once.

Vindicare, I never use him to hit multi-wound targets, pah! like the above guy said it's not worth it. what he didn't take into account was the Assassins ability to take out Venomthrope in one shot with a special round, a Powerfist totting Veteran Sergent or Platoon Commander with almost guaranteed results with another round and can fire into melee with his S5 AP2 Exitus Pistol when the enemy is closer

I like the idea of the Vindicare better, and I think it's the first one I knew in the WD. The others that followed him are cool too. I have both Vindicare minis, but I've never used him in a game, so I don't know if it's any good or not.

Points wise you get about 3 Death Cults for every Vindicare. Max out the elite options and do the math.

9 Death Cult Assassins v 3 Vindicares? Unless you're playing on a board with literally no buildings or terrain then we are looking at 3 dead Vindicare's.

Besides, Death Cults work surprisingly well in sync with other units.

Let's say you have a squad of SoB's and a single Death Cult assassin bearing down on an enemy gunline. Since the opponent fears the deadly (yet TBH overrated) close combat skills of the assassin, he targets her instead. So you're shot 40pts, but you've now got a full-strength SoB squad ready to get into rapid-fire range. This tactic doesn't work so well in Annihilation.

Another good mind game is the fear your opponent has when leaving single units (say a squad of Devestators or Dark Reapers) behind while the rest of the force advances. For only 30 points you can force his hand and make him keep some ground support behind to root out that single 40pts model, or you can watch him sweat and your Death Cult Assassin creeps around and gets closer to that squad. (even though the likelihood of her killing them and escaping unscathed is actually very low).

Cullexus,

Yeah, its situational and the pariah gene just isn't that special anymore and not may people play enough psykers to get the benefit but.

Full PBS+Primaris+ Cullexus = a gak storm of hurt, for a little while, (who cares he affects my army in the process).

Eversor also gets a nod.

man, I miss 2nd and even 3rd ed Assasins!

Eversor, or as I like to call him the Emperor's Crack Monkey.

Above all else he rules because he comes on a standard base and charges 12". More than once I've had people over look him and move within 18". Then he goes psycho, charges out and kills the squad. He always dies but always in an entertaining manner and always after spoiling someone's planning assault on my lines.

I really like the idea of the Vindicare but he's pretty meh on the tabletop. Now the Eversor is an absolute monster, particularly with that 12 inch charge and all those power weapon attacks. If you're crafty with your infiltration you can wreck a squad of Lootas or Devastators in your first assault phase!

Callidus has just so many uses. Even without "A word in your ear" popping up out of nowhere and killing three TH/SS terminators is just too good to be true. I also have a vindicare, and I must admit, popping a turbo penitrator in the chamber and smacking down a PK nob turn one or even into combat is worth the sight on the enemy's face.
