I long ago made peace with the fact that in the 41st millenium everyone learns to shoot from watching rambo (from the hip) but the thought occurred to me when watching modern military tech that maybe they have gun mounted cameras linked to helmet Heads Up Displays and I thought I would see if it was ever mentioned in the fluff.
So any evidence of this in any 40k army or is that the justification for only hitting 50 or 66% of the time?
Yes All imperials have it. Terminator armor has in view and hud and tactical inputs. Read third ed. space marine helmets do as well. Guardsmen do when they have their breathers down.
From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.

Sweet. I wonder if there is a health bar as well? No? What about a rage percentage level? For instance, on a calm sunny day where Kharne is surrounded by cuddly kittens, his rage level is a meagre 80%. When charging down a trench at guardsmen screaming at the top of his lungs, it's closer to 110%. And those really scary moments were he's surrounded by Twilight fans and Avatar LARPers his rage levels are dangerously high. Rumoured to be somewhere around 180-200%.
Of course, scary as it is, I would pay good money to watch Kharne in a room full of Twilight fans and Avatar LARPers. Behind a bullet/chainaxe-proof glass of course.

Yes, there is acctually a 'health bar' of sorts. Some of the novels talk about damage indicators in the SM HUD's they show where parts of the armor have been punctured or come off, warning the Marine inside that the next time he's hit there he's going to feel it.
Now that I've read the rest of your post I demand you make this into a flash game. We will all ignore the hypocrisy that is blatant in your post of nerds vs. nerds.
If im not mistaken in the SW omnibus ragnar can see his teamates status and also the damage incurred onto his power armor...e.g the leg armor is badly damaged and is losing power...
It was at 1,400something for that battle. The World Eaters, while at full strength during the Heresy, wiped out entire planet's populations overnight...
Most of you are missing the point. I'm not talking about the view through their visor plus a little power armor caricature in the corner. It seems obvious that they would have useful information shown in their helmet displays.
I'm talking about being able to see from the end of the gun as in the video I posted.
Sisters power armor helmets are quite complex as well, with "psycho-ocular buffering" to assist in keeping the human mind from being overwhelmed by battlefield conditions.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

This may not be relevant to the space marine dillema, i do recall that eldar warriors are able to see through the barrels of their catapults, through a targeter link.

actually this is exactly what I was looking for- imperial or otherwise. I don't suppose you have the source for the info?
I imagine that's what the scope you can add to the bolter would do is act like a camera so you actually could fire from the hip with accuracy
Do Space Marines Ever Have Fun?

No. Space Marines are so bad ass that they can effectively go rambo.
BTW - having 50% accuracy on full auto = amazing
