I'm thinking of combat squading the shooty terminators but keeping the assault terminators in one big group with the Librarian. Scouts hopefully sit at objectives with the shooty terminators providing some kind of support and the assault terminators go hunting for kills around the board.

The scouts just seem too flimsy to me. I like termies alot but for their points cost, 3 units at full strength seems like such a waste.

Other than that, I like seeing termie lists. They remind me of the good ole days when deathwing were good...

Hammer terminators need a transport. If they deep strike or move around by gate they cannot assault afterwards, plus a big unit like that is going to mishap. If you combat squad them down you still have the problem of them not getting into combat.

15 troop models aren't hard to kill. Take out the scouts and opponent claims a single objective and they've won.

Instead of the Scouts, I'd go for two full Tacticals in Rhinos.

I don't think there is anything wrong with 30 termies. And I don't think you need to worry about deep striking them. Don't be too reckless with them and you'll be able to use 30 giant models to control and cover a lot of the board.

So since you're focused on having three termie squads what can you do to make the scouts better? I'd say give them three Land Speeder Storms. The Storm Shield on the Libby and the Camo Cloaks will contribute points and you could cut a couple of TH/SS termies for the rest, so you don't lose the special weapons in the other squads. I'd say lose gate of infinity and take something crazy like null zone to really ruin someone's day...someone like the avatar.

You do need to worry about deep striking assaulting terminators though...and if the terminators aren't split into combat squads you're limited on space where to put them, so deep striking is a issue.

meh, just play deathwing or loganwing. the SM codex is not set up for spamming terminators, unless you want to take 30 hammer/shield terminators and march them up the field. I've heard that works.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Well, DW allows Termies to be scoring units provided that the army is led by Belial.
He's a cheap and effective HQ (as it should be in an SM army).

Belial is an absolute steal for his points cost. Though Deathwing isn't exactly the best or most competitive of armies, it's great fun. You can still take your 30 Termies and not have to worry about Troops choices; those Termies are your troops! However, the lack of 10 man squads, 4+ SS, and Fearless (nothing like getting owned by No Retreat! wounds...) means that DWing has its flaws.

Loganwing is supposed to be expensive, points wise.

Lost in the warp while searching for a new codex

lack of 10 man squads is not a big deal. What DA termies are lacking is the incredible awesomsauce Storm Shield that other Termies can have.
If you are playing DW and "getting owned" by no retreat wounds you must have done something terribly wrong already and might as well concede the game right there...

I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

Yeah if you're spamming Termmies why not just take 30 Hammernators and walk them up the board. Take the BA Codex and have a couple of Sanguinary Preists and you have an unstoppable wall of death (unless you face green tide and then you get nailed)...

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

I agree with the above posts, I love my deathwing army, its always a blast to play it and my opponents love to play me because its not very often that you see a deathwing army (in my area anyway). And saying deathwing isnt competitive is kinda a lie, if you know how to use them correctly you can do some SERIOUS damage.

I normally would have gone for 30 hammernators but I wanted the ability to shoot for the ones supporting the scouts.

Actually I'm coming up with a different list now with Khan... it will have Hammernators... but only 29 not 30...
