Hey all, was making my BA list tonight, and I realised something. Although it says you can only take LRaiders as a termie transport, it does not appear to say anywhere that a drop pod cannot transport a termie. Did I miss something, or can you take a terminator decked out char in a drop pod with a squad?? This would be worth it simply for the wtf look your oppenent would give you as your termie sang priest walked out of the pod with an assualt squad.

I know that in the vanilla codex, Terminators cannot take pods as a dedicated transport, but nothing stops one from attaching an IC in TDA to a squad embarked in a pod. I imagine that this hasn't changed for the BA codex.

Yeah it says on rhino varients "cannot transport termies" but nothing in the drop pod, intenital or an oversight.

Intentional. This is also why DP's have a transport capacity of 12 and not 10 (models in terminator armor take up 2 spots).

And iirc, SW use them exclusively because they don't trust teleporters.

Actually, (and this is one of 3 problems I have with the SW codex) It says they don't like to, but no where does it say they can't.

It doesn't say they can teleport, so they cannot. (Compare terminator armour entries between codices. There is a whole section omitted in the SW version).

um.. sorry but it doesn't have to. it has to say they actually CAN for it to be true. normally, this is under the rules for terminator armor. in the spot where other marine termie armor entries have the deep strike via teleport rule, the SW version says they specifically don't like to and mentions NOTHING about them being able to. it's not an error or omission. sw termies can not deep strike without a drop pod.

well, they should come to dakka! gwar will set them straight! in all seriousness, the lack of SW termies deep striking has been around since 2nd edition IIRC; it's not a recent change and has been part of their fluff (and rules) since the mid 90s.

Still we digress, so I am totally allowed to take an 8 man assualt squad, throw them in a pod, and attach a termie priest with them.

i don't see why not. termie armor simply says it takes two spots and can't ride in rhinos and razorbacks. i personally wouldn't as your assault squad would not be able to sweeping advance/massacre units because of the one guy in termie armor though...

Ok, a lot of misinformation in this thread.

I will set you all straight.

Models in TDA can embark in Drop Pods, this is fine and 100% legal.

Outside of a Space Wolf Army though, there is NO WAY to have a Squad of Terminators inside a Drop Pod in reserves.

The only way a model in TDA can be in a drop pod outside a SW army is to attach an IC with TDA to another unit with a Drop Pod.

And also, BA Drop Pods only hold 10.

Black Templars Don't Count, because they smell!

But Black Templars Termies can also Teleport, so they have the option of either 5 in a Pod or 10 Teleporting.

Wow, GW Screwed us all over!
