Hi,

I would like to share my experience fighting Tyranid with CSM.

His list:

1 Tyranid Prime with a couple of Tyranid Warriors (6?)
1 brood of Genestealers with a Broodlord (10?)
1 brood of Genestealers (10?)
1 brood of Zoantrophes (3)

My list

Kharn (attached to the Berserkers)
1 Chaos Dreadnought (ML + HF)
7 naked Berserker (Rhino)
5 Noise Marines (5x Sonic Blaster + Rhino)
1 Defiler (DCCW + AC)

We rolled for Seize & Control with Spearhead deployment.

In the center of the battlefield there were ruins that blocked LoS. We had three objectives on three different quarters.

I won the roll to go first, he failed to steal the initiative. I chose the quarter with one objectice with the other one close by.

Deployment:
I: deployed the NM Rhino behind the left ruin, the Khorne Rhino close to the right ruin where the other objective war, the Dready close to the NM and the Defiler on an open field between the ruins.

He: deployed everything behind the ruins except the Zoeys who glimpsed between the ruins at my Khorne Rhino and defiler, whereby he was at least 24" away... So no worry.

1st turn:
I: rolled for the Dready, (2) so he was sane, moved with him on top of a ruin to gain sight on the genestealers, moved the NM rhino closer to the ruin and disembarked because I believed there was a window, but there was none... Moved the Khorne rhino to the other objective half covered and positioned the defiler.

I: than fired the battle cannon aiming at the Zoeys hitting them in the center, doing nothing because of the invulnerable saves, fired the ML of the Dread on the Genestealer (w/o Broodlord) with a direct hit killing three (he had minimum coherency).

He: moved everything further towards me, Warriors on the left side of the ruin in the center, with the genestealers with broodlord, the other genestealers on the right of the center ruin with the Zoeys.

He: fired with the Zoey's warp sth at my Khorne Rhino, passing the psychic test and hitting it only once. He penetrated the armour easily and the Rhino got destroyed, with Kharn and the Berserkerky exiting it. The other units ran further towards me half covered.

2nd turn:
I: rolled a 1 for the Dready, fortunately the closest visible unit were the genestealers on the right of the ruin which I could see... Stepped backwards with the defiler, embarked the NM and drove a bit away to be able to shoot at the genestealers with broodlord and moved Kharn and the Khorn Berserker further into the ruin.

I than fired the battle cannon at the the genestealers with broodlord, killing two and because of deviation two further warriors. With the NM I killed another one of them. I shot the ML of the Dready twice at the other genestealers brood on way of the unit, the other hitting and killing another three or four.

He: moved the Zoeys closer dancing around the center ruin with the other units.

He than shot the Zoeys at the Dready, passing the psychic test, hitting it only once and than ROLLING A ONE!!! Not even glanced the armour... LOL

3rd turn:

I: rolled for the Dready again a 1. Unbelievable. Defiler stood still, Kharn and his companions moved out of the ruin within 12 inches of the Genestealers with broodlord, NM Rhino positioned to shoot them in the back from the other side of the ruin on my quarter.

I: shot the Battle Cannon missing... :( With ML of the Dready I could kill other genestealers (without Broodlord) reducing their number to two. Kharn shot his plasma pistol and the Beserkers their pistols killing the genestealers except the Broodlord. The noise marines aimed at the warriors from within the Rhino and managed to inflict one wound.

He shot with the zoeys at my Berserker unit managed to kill 3 and than gave up.

Man of the game, the Dready though rolling 1s twice for his crazed rule.

Tyranids didn't really do much...

The Zoeys are hard to kill, I forgot that they weapon is a rapid firing one...
