I am playing a friendly game on saturday with what i think might be a fun build. I am going to run 2 slanns and would like some input. We will be running an 8th edition game at 3000 pts.

Lords 725
Slann
Free power dice for everyspell
Cupped Hands
Battle Standard Banner
Lore of Light

Slann
Free power dice for everyspell
Ancient Art(can't be hit by mundane weapons)
Divine Plaque
Lore of Beasts

Heroes 701
Skink Priest
Plaque of topec
Ancient Steg
Wizard lvl 2

Scar Vet (goes with the block of saurus)
Light + shield
Burning Blade
Carnasaur pendent

Scar Vet (goes with the cold ones)
Light + Shield
Scimitar of Sun
Cold One

Core 875
59 Saurus
Spears
Full Command

12 Skinks
Krozigar
Full Command

Special 696
16 Temple Guard
Revered Guardian
Musician
Standard Bearer
Prohecy Standard

3 Terrordon Riders

5 Cold One Caverly
Champ
Musician
Standard
Sunstandard

Now the idea behind the list is too buff everything with a +3 toughness from the one slann, get the 10 WS and 10 I from the other and have the skink cast the reroll of ones, all on the big block of saurus. Also if i have PD left give the saurus +3 str and attacks.

Now if all this fails i have the lone slann that can turn into an ethereal dragon, because the ethereal ability is not an item it is a power that he has.

Input would be welcome, as i have yet to play an 8th edition game.

Thanks in advance.

I dont know much about fantasy, im interested in getting into lizardmen. But damn that sounds mean

Piss off Grimaldus- miss your face "See the apparent objectives of the Crusades weren't cadia, but to troll cadia like HA HA WE TOOK THE SYCAMORE PARK WE HAVE WON CREED! Ok everyone back into the eye of Terror."

I'm not sure that this list would do well. You have a lot of points in magic, yet you're still dependent on the winds of magic. What if you roll low? You'll still get off some powerful buff spells, but what in your army is going to kill the enemy? I believe all of those buffs are "remains in play" and can be dispelled in your opponent's magic phase? (I could be wrong about that)

I also think people will cringe as seeing dual-slann, even though (imho) it's kind of a waste of points. I'd rather see another rock-hard unit than the second slann.

You'd be better off lowering the cost of one Slann and replacing the other with Kroq-Gar.

After playing a few practice games, Unless you roll crazy high all game you just dont have enough dice to support more than one level 4 and one level 2 wizard, even with all the slanns bonus dice.

Dropping one slann for a scar vet will probably be a much better return on points.

All your eggs are in a single 60-man basket. Doesn't feel like a good idea to me. Every balanced list will dismantle your one win condition quickly.

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

So if i were to drop the slann, replace it for a scar vet, which school would you take beasts or light. Whats more important, +3 toughness or i10?

Then should i split the saurus into 2 30 man groups or 3 20 man groups. or run more skinks?

I was just thinking that WS 10 I10 t7 saurus squad would be a pain to kill. And if those 2 spells are remain in play then i could have the rerolls of 1's from the lore of heavens too buff them as well. I thought that it would take a lot too dislodge a block that big.

A Slann should be casually tossing around comets like it's New Year's - Heavens.

Since two casters in the army cant take the same spells, taking heavens on the slann would kill your skinks magic.

that why i was thinking beasts or light, with the 2 slanns i had both covered. Light would help against the shadow school and metal has a lot of spell that subtract toughness from the amount of damage done.
