I usually play in the 2500-3000 points range.

I've been meaning to give spearhead a try lately and came up with the following:

3 Immolators with Mechanized Assault loaded with Melta/Flamer Dominions
3 Exorcist with Tank hunter

Fill rest of FOC however you want, but keep the heavy support slots for another 3 regular Exorcists.

How would you feel facing down 6 Exorcists?

Not as bad as I would feel facing this list;
