Hi guys, this is my first (I think) picture posted here on Dakka.

So for 8th ed fantasy battle, I decided to start a high elves army. I don't know much about elves or what colour scemes you'd normally use, but I saw an ivory swordmaster over on Ulthran.net and I took that as my inspiration.

As a rule, I'm not great at pictures so please forgive me if they're of bad quality.

The sides, I don't quite like the model line on the head, but the last time I filled metal it ruined the file sooo...

And finally the back.

Any way to make it better? C & C welcome.

Thanks for reading!

Awsome job!

As far as C&C goes, I'm not a big fan of the big blue sword, it needs something to break it up and give it some more definition. Maybe run some silver or gunmetal along the edge to make it look sharp and put some Elfish runes or words along the blade. The plume comeing off the helmet looks like it could use a few more turns of Dry brushing and washing, maybe try useing a red thats a few shades darker or has alittle black mixed in to really make the different strands stand out.

As far as runining your files when useing them on metal minis, that should happen. Just make sure your useing actual files and not glorified nail files.

Its always good to see fully and well painted minis. Keep up the awsome work and post some pictures of the finished army.

I agree the blue sword needs something to break it up.

Otherwise Great Job!

Would be lovely to see a whole unit of these guys (and I believe I know exactly which models you saw as inspiration - that all ivory/white-armored army is beautiful).

One suggestion for the armor is to give it a light coat of Gryphonne Sepia or Ogryn Flesh wash on it to make the edges of the armor pop out a bit.

Agreed with the comment on the sword though. It sticks out a bit too much. If you want to avoid that pure blue, you could always paint the blade up with Boltgun Metal/Mithril Silver and give it a moderate wash with Asuryan blue to get a nice blue-tinted metal color.

Overall, the concept is great! Can't wait to see more.

Thanks for the comments guys. I just finished re-doing the plume so it is slightly darker and adding a rune or two to the sword. I'll post him when I add another SM.
