Subject: Compedative BA list 1500pts

Hi all, i have restructured a BA list and here she is:
Librarian
JP, 125
Honor Guard
JP, 2 MG 185
Sanguinary Priest
JP 75
10 Assault marines - 2x flamers
*Sgt lightning claw 215
10 Tactical Marines
ML, flamer, DP 205
10 Assault marines - 2x Melta guns
*Sgt lightning claw 225
Landspeed Typoon, MM 100
Landspeed Typoon, MM 100
Landspeed Typoon, MM 100
Furiso Dread
BT, HF, DP 170
The idea is that one assault squad, with the honor guard go around spanking whatever they can, the honor guard have a sang priest and allow FNP and FC
The other assault squad has the sole sang priest and also runs at the enemy.
The drop podding is split between the dread and the inf squad. The marines are there for pure objective grabs, while the dread can alpha strike if the opportunity is there. If the dread will be needed later i just drop the marines first.
The land speeders are my Armour hunters, the missiles aim for special squads and light Armour while the MM targets the tanks.
I feel this list works well together and achieves what a BA army stands for, getting in the enemies face!
Perhaps i could use more power weapons/fists, but i could really use some advice. Im against fists in the assault squads because they cant take advantage of the FC, while the LC can, and allow for a re-roll.
Any QC welcome

What powers would you plan on using for the Librarian?
I like the honour guard more and more as I think about them. Best bet for you with that list would be to stick the Libby with them.
I'd like to see two priests, one for each assault squad, for some better defense to keep them guys a'fighting. By the way, you cannot have 2 special weapons on your assault marines unless the total is 10 marines (Unless you're not counting the Sgt, then carry on)
I've never been a fan of Landspeeders, so I won't comment on them as I don't have much experence with them.
You sure do have a thing for Lightning Claws don't ya?

First off, its competitive. not compedative.
The honor guard is too expensive for just having 2 melta gun. Secondly, why don't you take a free flamer on that tactical squad, it really wouldn't hurt. One bolt shot here or there makes little to no difference. I'm not so sure about land speeders (especially in squads of 1) mainly because they are so prone to rogue shots killing them. You'll find that they die very quickly. An even number of drop pods is bad imho. Just run the one for the Dreadnought becasue the tactical squads seems lacking in what they would do when they come down. I do see the logic in postponing their arrival so they have a few less turns of being shot at but hey, its your army do what you want.

Thanks for the comments,
Iv added a free flamer, not a big deal really.
The honour guard are expensive, but they also add a hard to kill sang priest, and 2 MGs, that will accompany an assault squad to kick some ass.
I understand peoples mistrust of speeders, but i cant really see a good alternative that can achieve the same. They are extremely mobile weapons platforms shooting 2 missiles a turn, or taking on heavy armor in attack runs.
One alternative may just be 2 more dread drops, but they wont come on at the same time and really break up the army. The whole idea is more of a turn 2 attack, unless there is a weakness to be exploited by one of my 2 dropping units.
So any alternatives to the speeders? im looking for fire power unit/s that can take on light and heavy armor/squads.
Cheers

Honor Guard? Seriously?
You could drop them and play almost another entier 10 man assult team. Honorguard are kind one of those units that look great on paper but dont translate all that well into the game...
As for the landspeeders, there is nothing wrong with them, just remember that they are glass swords...

I use to think this too. But they are actually a very good unit depending on how they are used. You could get 4 guys with all Melta-guns and use Dante to deepstrike them right next to a tank and blow it up easy.
They can be geared to be awesome in close combat and they have a priest who cannot be picked out of combat because he isn’t an independent character.
They are a specialist unit and very, very customizable. They are indeed a good unit.
